Chris Hall of Pocket-lint gives his two cents on the latest in the Ninja Gaiden series, Ninja Gaiden II.

The story plays out across 14 beautifully rendered levels in different locations around the world, taking full advantage of the power on offer in the Xbox. The scenery at times is breathtaking, but this being a fighting game, there is little time to admire the background as the enemies come thick and fast.

IGN, Gamersdye, Teamxbox, and Gamevideos have been dominated in the past day or so with nothing but Ninja Gaiden II videos. Each and every single one of them is AMAZING.

IGN- 8.7, and their points are completely agreeable, though the score is a little low for the complaints given.

Huh, thanks for letting me know, Tenken, I'll check out a few.

Better check out IGN's review as well. Perhaps they didn't have it hit the 9 rating mark because of MGS4 coming the week after?

What does that have to do with it? It shouldn't stop it from getting a 9.

IGN don't usually give out a lot of high ratings within the same time period, it's partially what separates them from the rest of the reviewers. Take GTA IV for instance, their third or fourth major 10/10 ever. Were there many 9's and such given out for the other games released during that period? Doubt it.

Well I don't know about that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

This game looks fun. I might pick it up and see how it is! I hope that we are able to just walk around, and then do nothing!

NG2 looks great, but I think it doesn't live to what the others have done. While there is obviously some great changes, I feel the score it got is really disappointing.

If I ever get a 360 I will pick this up.

How is 8.7 disappointing? That's still very good..

The originals got above 9.0's, and from what we've heard on the game for months, it was sounding like a 9.5 game easily.

But the lack of storyline and some of the other problems really disappoint me.

Lack of story? They put too much in. So much so that's it's random. Honestly, you don't play NG for story. Even the NES games were bad on that part.

Looking at any of the reviews, and then watching the gameplay clips should make you wonder what the hell half of the reviewers have been snorting, because they are obviously high.

Ehh, I guess but its just the info we have had for months now, made this game a 9.5 easily. But then again Reviewers suck, so i shouldn't really be surprised.
