A Rant On Bosses: Final Fantasy & Shank
14 hours 56 mins ago
In the October issue of the OXM magazine, there is a very, very big rumor inside: Gearbox Software is developing Halo 4 as a launch title for the next generation Xbox!
Don't worry, this isn't just some crazy rumor with no evidence: earlier in the year, Randy Pitchford, the CEO and President of Gearbox said they were working on something big. "When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one," he stated.
Do you believe it?
With Bungie admittedly uninterested in creating Halo games ad nauseum, and Gearbox one of the industry's top FPS developers, we've certainly heard crazier rumors. And there are few licenses that would get a studio chieftain to inadvertently slam his own games in development. Whatever the project is, Pitchford has said he'll be directing it himself, adding, "When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one." Nope, you probably couldn't Randy. Overselling Halo is Microsoft's job anyway; you guys just make with the shooting of the aliens ... no, the other aliens.

One of the main ones is that for some time now, MS Xbox-Div has been working on the next wave of motherboards, one of which is the Valahlla. This sports a unified GPU and CPU and will be the basis on the next xbox, when is it due out . .late '09 early 2010 . . . hmmm . . . seems to fall inline with the possibility of the release of the x720 at that time, and the comments from Gearbox does indicate that they are working on a "major" xbox title, and who better to do a FPS than gearbox
But I can hear . ."yeah, but they said the 360 had a life span of 10 years .." Yes, the 360 will have a life cycle of 10 yrs plus, but a "life cycle" is different to a retail marketing life cycle.
While the PS2 has had a great "life cycle" . . it's not Sony's MAIN focus. This will apply to the 360, which will still be available as the PS2 is, but they will move ahead with new technology, as not to do so would be suicide. The initial 1st-Gen Xbox was simply a stepping stone into the market, much like the initial Playstation was, which was superseeded by the following iteration and basically slipped into oblivion. NOt because it was a bad console or didn't warrant it. But because it had a job to to. Get the console on the market so they could get the main one ready, yet still have a presence in the market place.
Sony are currently working on the PS4, Nintendo are working on the next iteration of the Wii and MS have been working on the x720 since the 360 launched.
These facts can be verified by reading two major publications called Opening The Xbox and Xbox 360 Uncloaked by Dean Takahashi and various other printed media.
Not all things are readily available on the net, and just because they aren't, doesn't make their facts any less viable or unreal.
No, quite the opposite. YOu could say that of Sony as well.
Why . . well within a month of the fables Ken K "retiring" Sony began in earnest with development of the PS4 . . . They began advertising for programmers and tech crew who wanted to work with the next iteration of Sony's console hardware. Have they also lost faith in the PS3?
Of course not. They just know, same as MS do and Nintendo, that in order to stay abreast of the technological curve, they must begin on the next iteration well before a life cycle starts to stop on a previous machine.
You simply can sit back and wait until a machine begins to die down or loos momentum. You need to keep that momentum up to it so that the desire to own is always there.
DO you see other electronic manafacturers waiting until they can't sell any more HDTV's CamCorders, HD Players, etc etc before beginning the next iteration. Of course not.
Once one is finished, after a shport break, the dev team are straight into the next iteration, using some of the things they may well have wanted to include in the present one but couldn't due to time restraints.
Gamers have this unreal expectation that gaming is unlike any other commercial entity. News flash . . it's not.
Nah, I kid I don't think the 360 has reached its peak at all. I just tink it needs to get the game people actually want out there. So fall should be interesting.
So basically your just a Sony fanboy attempting to "prove" 360 is going to lose. PS3 is technically superior...there congrats you've validated your opinion. Run along now...
and i ment the ps3 isn't go to outsell the 360 by 100 million like the ps2 and xbox
and that this gen is different its to close to call who'll win
sorry if you didn't understand
Now I may have been blind in the past about all this, but as of now there's nothing wrong with having multiple discs on a game. The 360 isn't past its peak nor has it hit it. Stop being a fool, cause thats honestly something A fanboy(not calling you one) would say.
