Some info regarding Mass Effect 2 has surfaced on the Internet, or so the now deleted post claimed. It is a rather extensive list and if true certainly looks to be a big improvement over its precursor. Some of the leaked info includes 5 player co-op. The story of the sequel beginning two months after the end of the last one. The promise of competitive multiplayer. And finally the increasing of the level cap to 120 and much, much more. A sample of the list is below but the full thing is at the source.

-Mass Effect 2 will have up to 5-player CO-OP, depending on the host players decision of how many players will be able to assist him/her

-The story in Mass Effect 2 will continue 2 months after Mass Effect

-There will be a Multiplayer component called Survival, where players will crash on a planet and battle to survive against endless hordes of enemies, the score will be determined on how many enemies will be killed and how much time players will be able to survive, there is no end to this mode, it's a very similar mode to Gears of War 2's Horde.

-Level cap has been increased to Level 120

-Battles wil be on a much larger scale, reported scale is the same as in Gears of War 2

-There will 2 more classes added to the aditional classes from the first game

-The Galaxy has been expanded, you can now explore 8 times more planets than in Mass Effect, also, every planet now has a bigger scale, players will be able to set up small bases on planets with a sustainable atmosphere

Damn, even a rumor is good at this point. It's like they've completely hidden this game away.

Hopefully it is all true, sounds awesome so far. One of the things that I hope they change in the new game is the blandness of the planets. The majority of the ones you could visit were just barren wastelands.

One thing I noticed about this information though... This sounds like a lot of promises for a game that isn't even near completion yet. Some of the details sounded a bit too specific, like the fact that there will be 3000 interactable NPCs in the game. It just doesn't sound like something anyone could possibly know this early on in development.

Well this is like the first Mass Effect, almost no info until release was looming over our shoulders.

Rumor or not, this is fantastic news.

Mass Effect sits as one of my favourite RPG games of all time. I dunno why; but i really find it that awesome.

Hope to see it exclusive to the Xbox360 platform.

For someone who actively supports games being multiplatform for everyone to experience, I find it pretty hypocritical and ironic you come out with a statement like "Hope to see it exclusive to the Xbox360 platform". I mean that definitely goes against previous statements that you made in other articles in the last week.

Neither hypocritical nor ironic if you knew my point of view. The PS3 has a kickass 2009 lineup and I have this horrible habit of balancing out my game libary across each of the 3 platforms. Like if I have 5 Wii games and 3 Xbox games, It annoys me. Call me crazy.

Despite my misguided statement I feel your reply wasnt quite needed like so. But each to their own.

Maybe so, I just felt like pointing out that you rather want this game to be exclusive when that wouldn't allow other people experiencing the game like you usually talk about. Thats all, just something I noticed.
I just don't believe this should be exclusive, I think it could sell greatly on the PS3, especially given the fact the system needs better games to compete against the 360.

Either way, Im sure this game will be awesome.

Lol sorry for that. I probably did come across that way to people. Yeh Mass Effect would be good on the PS3 as well, sadly another one of my habits is having a complete series of a game on 1 platform, but I can understand why PS3only owners would want it. Its really good.

Even if they are rumors I bet most of them are true, at least in theory.

Level cap pretty much has to increase, more planets, etc...

Not so positive about co-op/multiplayer though. Bioware has never tried that as far as I'm aware. Seems weird to try now, in the middle of a trilogy.

These are generic, pre-information rumors. I've seen these a million times, for almost every game.

If they turned out to be true, however? Mass Effect has the 'potential' to be a good squad based co-op game, but ONLY if executed right. Otherwise it could end up as a mess. The settlement idea 'could' be cool. It could also be really lame.

Yeah, certain focuses on different parts of the settlements would be great. Such as them being able to expand without your direct intervention, and gaining an update on them from your ship.

As far as exclusivity goes, I do believe Microsoft Studios has some kind of hold on the title.

Uh, what ? I can never see a Bioware RPG with co-op. Their games focus more on story and plot development and co-op works better for free-roam RPGs like Fable. Co-op would make the storyline seems strangers if they have to take your old NPC squad members away.

Oh god, just when I thought going for the level 60 achievement was a pain in the ass ...

Not completely necessary. While it's nice that they would try to make the game as exspansive as possible, I would prefer they make the existing planets in the game more interesting than the barren wastelands they were.

To each his own, I guess. I would like to have more places to visit, more planets with a purpose other than just a name. I'm with you on the level cap and co-op bits, though. I still haven't gotten to level 60, takes a damn long time, and co-op wouldn't feel right in this game, imo.

Man, I gotta get back to my console games. I have yet to finish Mass Effect or GTA IV. And now we're hearing news on the next installment.

Man, I gotta say...Co-Op would not be good for Mass Effect at all. This series is built to be an amazing single player experience. I can't see Co-Op working well at all.

120 level cap? 8x more planets!? That would make the game insanely long, probably to unnecessary lengths.

    I dont believe it.

Oh, and Mass Effect is one of my top 5 favorite games ever. I've put over 100 hours into it.
