With so much information having come out of TGS 2008, it's not a wonder as to why this was missed... According to some websites, it seems that Sony announced the release date of the much-awaited and much-delayed Playstation Home to be November 19th 2008. With only two websites running this story at the moment, it seems to be more like a rumour, but there may very well be some truth behind this...

Sony's "Home" virtual world for the Playstation 3 will be released on November 19th, after its delay twice already. It will go up against Microsoft's Xbox 360 "New Xbox Experience".

Would be nice if it were true.

Isn't that around the time of the X-Box update? Like, a bit after it or something?

I wouldn't be surprised if it were true, actually. Sony doesn't want MS to get too far ahead of them >_> ANd it WAS promised for this year anyhow.

But if it isn't true, meh, oh well.

No, that is literally the exact same day the NXE is being released.

I honestly don't see how anyone could have gotten a Playstation 3 JUST for Home. It's not like it's a game... I mean it'd be cheaper AND BETTER for them to just play Second Life if they wanted something like that...

It's like the Sims crossed with the Wii Mii stuff. Not worth it really.

Worth what? Home is freaking free.

I doubt its gonna get much people going insane over the fact that you can walk around a virtual world >_>

    It's experience, not experiance.

Home and TNXS both look good, if the PS3's online was more up to par with Live than I more excited for the former.

Well if it's true then it would be nice that XBOX pushed them to release it but shitty that is what it took for them to finally do so.

Just means that Sony found out Microsoft were releasing NXE in November are were like...OMG RELEASE HOME NOW, WE DONT CARE IF ITS STILL BUGGY >_>

        Krunal Oct 12, 08
Do you honestly think that it was ever going to be released bug free? One thing is for sure, that Home would and most likely always will have bugs. The whole aim of the beta tests is to find as many of them as they can and fix them now, before it effects everyone.

I really don't see how people can get excited about NXE/Home. I bought my consoles to play games, not fanny about in the menus.

I think it's some of the features of Home that excites people. For example, I could say... buy one of those big homes, with a massive 52" Bravia HDTV, invite a few friends around to my "home" and stream Debbie Does Dallas uhh... I mean Casino Royale and allow them to watch the movie with me, without actually owning the DVD's themselves. Add to that Mic Support, and it'd give me the chance to insult tekmosis via a mic rather than on msn...

oh im sorry let me call Sony and tell them to scrap their ideas and have Home centered around what you want, because i don't think they realize that your the only person that matters to them

Someone seems awfully upset. Has Sony lost another exclusive?

I'm not interested in either, I'm not going give either any thought. If other people want to, that's their prerogative. I don't see what's wrong with that.

me upset? no buddy its not worth getting upset over.
funny how you say your not gonna give it another thought yet you posted about it and talked about it, if you didn't care then why post?
either way if your not gonna use either one, you don't have to but keep it to yourself

Why do I have to keep it to myself? Gamegrep is all about opinions and I am of the opinion Home and the NXE will be shite. (:

Calm down guys... Salvador, Kim does have a point. He's simply not interested in this, and so be it. I know I'm not really interested in say news stories about Football... I can imagine that it's the same way for him on this news.

        Ain't that the truth.

From what I see from home is the fact of something close to virtual reality. I like the idea of something like the Martix... And this is something along those lines.

Well all I can say is more fun for me with home. Home is more then fanny about menu's if you knew anything about either one you'd know that.

it would be great to get both home and the nxe in november but i dont trust this. even if sony said they were releasing it on their website i would just assume that it would be delayed. The one thing i am looking foward to with the nxe is that i can finally stop hooking my computer up to my hdtv so i can watch netflix watch now. i could care less about the avatars and the rest. but for home, i dont really get excited about any of it. im sure ill change my mind once i get to use it but for now i just use my ps3 for mgs4, warhawk, minimal web browsing and bluray movies...

You do realise that quite a few people managed to get into the the Closed Beta and actually play the game right? Though it's not actually a game, but they were able to actually Play it...

        Seeker X Oct 14, 08
Yeah, and one of those is myself. How many of those still calling it "The Sims" or something along those lines actually have the Beta?

I don't think the new Microsoft update has been hyped to an even comparable degree as Home has where it's warranted to compare the two...
It's not like they're two games releasing on the same date.

I think it may be the factor that many people are seeing the Avatars as nothing more than Wii Mii Ripoffs, where as I personally would prefer the Avatars to the Wii Mii's (mostly because you've got more customisable options).

I don't really see the big deal. So what if they're released the same day? Should Xbox 360 owners concern themselves with the release of Home, unless they happened to own a PS3 as well? It's not like I'm all of a sudden going to get a PS3 because of Home, it's merely another perk in the online system, same goes for NXE.

My point is, X360 owners, enjoy your NXE, PS3 owners, enjoy Home. If you own both, well, lucky you, you get the best of both worlds.

      Yay me.

Nah, frankly I knew Sony would push to get Home out on or before the day NXE released anyway. It would be foolish and determental for them to let Microsoft get further ahead of them. I figured it would be earlier though.

Supernouva has the right idea, I don't really care for NXE and I don't expect 360 owners to care for Home. But personally I will enjoy it very much. I see it as something to supplement my gaming experience, not be one on its own.

Shadow of Death* Oct 13, 08
Well, if they're both out on the same day, guess I'll be busy updating both my 360 and PS3 >_>

Might actually update my 360 first....*checks calendar*

Yeah, the 19th is a wednesday. So I'll be updating the 360 first, DLing marketplace demos and stuff, and then after I'm done with that, I'll go update the PS3 version, and spend a while in HOME

I just hope Home comes out the 19th. It has been a long wait that is all I can say. All the excitement I had for it has vanished though so I hope it can deem itself worthy of the wait.

Well a couple of other websites have started saying that it'll be released on November 19th, so I'd like to think that it's the real deal and not just some rumour...
