Just finished up work on Fallout 3, Bethesda seems to be back at it again now on a new title in the Elder Scrolls series. Acknowledging the strides Nintendo has made in the industry, the studio's publishing executive Paul Oughton says however you won't be visiting Tamriel on your Wii or DS anytime in the near future.

"At the moment we've got Fallout 3 for this year and potentially there's a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010," said Oughton. "At the moment we're not that interested in the Wii. We're going to stick to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. We'll continue to pursue three or four titles a year and go for big titles," he said of the company's publishing plans for the future.

Thanks for this Chautemoc - I love the Elder Scrolls games since Arena, but now that Fallout 3 is out and proves Bethesda can handle the license, I hope they dedicate enough resources to dedicate to both Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

If anything I hope to hear an expansion announcement by Q2 of next year ('09).

      <3 for the Fallout 3.
As cool as an expansion would be I'm looking forward to the release of an SDK. Not because I know how to make mods but because the mod community rocked with Oblivion and I'm sure Fallout 3's mod community is going to be just as awesome.

How ironic... I was surfing the web to find out about a new Elder Scrolls game this morning, and as soon as I logged on here, this article popped up. I still wish they would create an MMORPG based off of Elder Scrolls. Either way, reading this makes me quite happy.

Actually there was an article not too long ago that talked about Bethesda's next project being an MMO, as well as one a while back that pointed out that Bethesda had bought the domain name "www.elderscrollsonline.com," so, putting two and two together, it seems likely that this next Elder Scrolls game will be an MMO. Though, of course, without an official announcement putting these pieces together for us, there's no real way to know.

You'd better believe I'm hoping, though.

Use caution Exevier, in the news you mentioned, Bethesda also said they expanded operations to explore the MMO possibilities. It is entirely possible that we may see two Elder Scroll products - single player experience and the multiplayer experience, if they do indeed have a seperate team working on the MMO.

That would be amazing. Sounds a little too good to ever happen at this point, but this is Bethesda we're talking about; they're all about huge projects. Either way, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they've got up their sleeves, but I must say that the Elder Scrolls formula is just screaming to be made into an end-all awesome MMO of glory.

Cool. After having to sell my copy of oblivion, this will make me happy.

I haven't even bought Elder Scrolls yet, because the stupid stores won't lower the price of the GOTY edition.

I believe he means elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion.

Anyway great news. Oblivion was my first game(elder scrolls) and I love it.

Thanks I did mean Oblivion GOTY, I'll probably buy it when I get bored of Fable 2, that and The Orange Box. Man am I way behind on playing these popular games.

Elder Scrolls with a bunch of the best user made mods out there totally owned. The console version didn't excite me all that much.

Been saying that for the longest Kspiess... I mean there were mods that fixed the interface so it was more like the older games, improved map functionality (Dude, Where's my horse? mod rocks), the hack 'n slash mod that added combat moves, slow motion and limb removing special moves + gore, the flying mounts and tons of awesome armor sets (my favs probably are the Sauron armor and the Pyramid head sets - though the hashashin/assassin outfit rocks also)... totally made Oblivion (and Morrowind before it) on the PC make the console versions look like kindergarten by comparison.

Loving Fallout 3 on the PC this week much more than playing the PS3 version last week.

Finally you people now understand what I have been preaching for the last 5 years of my Neo-life

Also the MMO business is still in the dark, for all we know, it could be a Fallout MMO (which is highly more likely) Only reason www.elderscrollsonline.com is owned by Beth Soft is due to "squatting" on the domain name in order to stop people from stealing the name so they can't use it.

That had what happened with Fallout before, that's why it is http://fallout.bethsoft.com because someone stole the fallout.com domain name.

I had thought it would probably be Fallout as well, but I'm pretty sure one of the articles that popped up on the subject said their next big project was an MMO, but directly stated that it wasn't Fallout, which is what led me to believe it was going to be Elder Scrolls. This could be entirely off, but either way, Elder Scrolls would definitely make the better MMO. Haha.

Interplay are working on the Fallout MMO supposedly -- they have the rights to it, Bethesda has everything else. There's also an oldschool MMO mod for the old Fallout games in the works somewhere..
