In news that can only be described as "epically awesome in the most glorious of fashions", Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi has told real gaming news site Eurogamer that we should all be expecting to hear an announcement about a RE5 demo "relatively soon", saying:

"We'll be making an announcement about [a demo] relatively soon."

But that's not all, dudes and dolls. Later in the same interview Takeuchi went on to hint that the PlayStation 3 version of the game may not need any sort of installation.

We're still working on those technical elements in the last couple of months, but we can tell you that if users are dissatisfied with that kind of thing, then it's certainly something we keep in mind when we develop.. We'll do our best to come up with something that users will not criticize, but love.

Most PS3 games shouldn't even require installments. >_>

I hope RE5 doesn't require installments for the PS3 version or else I might have to get the 360 version. I have too much shit on my PS3 HDD.

LOL And to install that game on the 360 using the NXE? Good plan.

      Anyway good stuff.

Don't be a smartass. Name one 360 game that requires mandatory installment. And even if there was mandatory installment, I have a 120GB drive on my 360 that's barely even used. Kinda wish it was the other way around.

How am I being a smartass? Im serious, the install not only helps the games but the system functionality as well. Even if it is optional, its better off installing it anyway. So you're not really getting anything better with the 360 version, unless you're doing it cause of more space availability.

its in relation to the article, because usually in a demo, you do what you do in the game.
and the race issue is stupid. thats just like saying there are "terrorists" in call of duty 4, why wouldn't you feel sympathetic towards their feelings, it seems that everyone is just sucking up to "racism claims" by people whom ARE NOT RELATED TO IT. if the african comminity had a problem with it, they would've been all up in hell, but instead it was some other people.

It seems developers are starting to solve mandatory HD Installs. LittleBigPlanet only had a small one, Resistance had no one at all. Maybe my hardrive will last longer than I thought

It depends on the game. With something like LBP, it has relatively little going on, due to it being a side scroller, and so ha less to access from the disk and so the install is low.

With game's that have a lot to read from the disk(due to the blue ray drive being quite slow) and so it has to install some of the data onto the HDD so it has less to access from the disk.

Or if there is enough space developers can duplicate the code and put it into spare space on the disk so it can read it faster.

Look at MGS4: I'm pretty sure most of the audio data was uncompressed (and you noticed, especially when you had surround sound stereo going). Plus, the game itself had a TON of content, as well as 7+ hours of uncompressed cutscenes.

Even the 360 would need to install something from that game.

So while some games can avoid installs, others like MGS4 just can't get by without one. Though what Uncharted did is beyond me...

Because Naughty Dog knows how to use the PS3's engine properly unlike most developers.

Are they one of the devs who were planning on sharing knowledge to other developers? I know some of them are.

Not sure. I think Insomniac was one but I forgot the other one. It might have been them.

Insomniac were the ones sharing tech, though I hear Naughty Dog bounce a lot of ideas off other Sony developers.

Subzer0 you're missing my point awhile ago. Just because Uncharted was able to get by without an install doesn't all PS3 games can right now. Every game and engine works and codes completely different. And installs for them are necessary due to the disc reader within the system.

Now they will fix this problem in time, but that doesn't mean most devs don't know how to use the PS3's engine properly.

I still think some developers just put in install just for the sake of it.

Take Smackdown vs Raw 2009 for instance.2008 didn't need an install and then all of a sudden 2009 has a 3.2GB install. For what? A new match type and maybe a few more wrestlers?
