It seems some game companies are really seeing the troubles of the economy. First Free Radical closes down and then Blackbox from EA and now rumors are spreading that Factor 5, the company behind Liar, the rogue squadron games has also been closed down. They where also working on a secret project for the Wii which is rumored to be a PilotWings sequel.

Earlier we posted rumors that Factor 5 laid off half its staff. Now comes word the whole studio just closed. I guess everyone's answer to the economy is just to give up.

This one still gets the rumor tag because there's no name on the source. But says IGN's Matt Casamassina over on their boards (subscription required):

Factor 5, the company behind Liar,
Hehe, Liar? Liar because it didn't live up to the hype?

Now we are starting to see what mediocre PS3 exclusives do to a studio, if Liar and Haze where also released for 360 they probably would have gotten enough sales to keep the developers going.

I was really hopping for a new Rogue Squadron and Time Splitters game.

This is what happens when you develop exclusively for PS3.

I kid. It's sad to see another dev in trouble. I knew these guys had all their production values in the right spots.
