Big PS3 exclusive game to be announced next month, Possibly J&D?

Next month (February) a big PS3 exclusive game is supposed to be announced, according to the Dutch Official Playstation Magazine. Apparently it's developers are from the L.A. area, which means Naughty Dog as well as SCE Santa Monica could possibly be the developers for this "big exclusive PS3 game." Looks like J&D fans will have something to look forward to, hopefully.

The Dutch Official PlayStation Magazine announced that a new PS3 exclusive will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Apparently, while they can't speak too much on it now because of a non-disclosure act, they will be flying to LA to get the full scoop for next month's issue.

    At least they are giving us a closer announce date than all the other "PS3 exclusively secret titles" they got going around.

    Sometimes I think this is just all to start rumours and see what we'd want, then they announce by the majority rule.

    Even though i don't have a PS3 of my own yet, it'd be awesome for them to announce a new J&D game, as I may be getting a PS3 this year and am a huge fan of the J&D games.

    I can't count the amount of times there's been rumors of Naughty Dog making a new Jak and Daxter game, but I can't help but get hopeful each time.

      I concur. Everytime something like this happens I get all excited, and then a few days later it turns out to be fake. But maybe, just maybe this will be the time it's true. I really do hope it is, and if they aren't going to do this, then they better do it after U2:AT, cause I'm getting sick of waiting for one of the best games ever to return.

    Probably just the God of War III announcement.....I'm still waiting for the Team ICO one.

      It was announced last summer.

      I hope its the new J&D, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. As big a fan as I am, I don't consider J&D to be a "huge" game series anymore. Its kinda like how Crash was on the PS2 - great in the PSX era, poor to mediocre on the PS2. That and no one cared about him anymore since ND sold the series. But thats besides the point. My point is its either a make or break for franchises to make it on next-gen consoles, ergo J&D isn't really that "huge" right now.

      My guess on what it could be? Lets see...a huge game from L.A....Twisted Metal? I'd rather have a new TM than a new J&D to be perfectly honest. I miss that whole psychotic bunch of madmen.

        Why has Naughty Dog held on to the J&D license this whole time then? They've said they want to see what they could do with J&D on the PS3 before and they've been hinting at another J&D (sort of, anyway) for awhile. The only reason they haven't actually done anything is because they're working on Uncharted, which is basically a get-away from J&D. I'm pretty sure if you did 4 J&D games in a row that you'd be sick of it by the end.

        Eventually they will go back to it. And when they do I bet it will be just as good or even better then the older ones. The question is not if they're going to do it, it's when.

          I said that wrong. I realize they want to make another one, but what I was trying to say is a new J&D game wouldn't be cosidered huge because of past experiences with franchises advancing to another platform. Other than the Metal Gear series, I've always been skeptical about old franchises on new systems. Twisted Metal was one of them back in the PS2's first year, R&C was another this gen (just a few examples). TBH, I hardly followed ToD until a few months after it came out when I heard it was good. What I mean is, old franchises tend not to get the huge publicity that the newer ones do. Thats all.

          There. My convoluted, trite explaination as to why Jak 4 isn't gonna be a huge game. How lame...

          But only if they do something new will I pick it up. I really didn't like 2 and 3 that much. The first was so much fun.

        Oh yeah I meant the release date of GOW 3. It was on the PS3 main forum that it will be announced in 2-3 weeks.

    Eh, I don't know. What about them working on Uncharted 2? Aren't they doing that?

    I tried to get into the J&D series but couldn't. The whole toony, fun look of the game, yet mixing in with adult themes and situations and language kinda doesn't flow with me. I'll stick with the fun R&C, that's pretty fun and mostly "innocent" all around.

    Though GOWIII . . . . nah, not interested in that either. And hey, Kratos, come on over. I can take ya!!! Um . . . maybe. Okay well even so, I'm not afraid of death!
