PS3 Firmware 3.00 "The Answer to Xbox Live"

There is a rumor floating around that the 3.00 FW Update will be "Sony's answer to Xbox Live." It will supposedly include Cross Game Chat, voice messaging, and all the other stuff Live has and PSN doesn't. This does explain why Sony has been taking forever to bring out a Firmware Update, and that they have had no response to any of the questions regarding Cross Game Chat.

So tell me now what are all of the Xbots going to do when their main arguing point is gone? (Assuming that this is true, of course)

Firmware 3.00 is supposedly going to be the answer to Xbox Live, now the biggest advantage that people say the Xbox 360 has over PS3 is what? Xbox Live. So now what do you think they will have to argue that the Xbox is better then the PS3?

    This would be tight if it were true though. I would love cross game so much more for my PS3 than 360 because my PS friends all have different taste in games. On 360, we're all in the same game that normally revolves around 'shootin shit' so we don't really need it.

    And I don't really care about voice messaging, but I guess it would make it faster.

    Has this guys record ever been proven before? I remember him making a lot of "predictions" last year. But I don't remember how much of it turned out to be true and how much was forgotten.

      HipHopGamer is trash. The site has claimed that the next Grand Theft Auto will be a PS3 exclusive. Has talked about how EA is going to make their own console. I just hope everyone notices this is in the "rumor" section.

    I'm sure Xbots will be absoulety pissed that they've been enjoying basic online features for years and years while you dance around using "HipHop Gamer" as a source that you'll finally be able to talk to someone playing a different game.

    I don't think it is going to change much if these updates are true. It's the PSN being laggy as hell which is the main problem that makes LIVE better.

    I'd rather have better PSN servers. Sometimes its running fine and then the shit hits the fan and its just a massive lagfest.

    Idc, Its the server lack of good games i like that put me off buying the PS3, Not the lack of cross game chat. When they fix THAT, i will buy one.

    I might as well buy a betamax with a skype phone taped to it for the time being :U

      What good games do you like? That argument hasn't really been valid for a while now unless you only like a few niche genres. Or you're a RPG fan, which the system is lacking in. Either way.

    While I'm hoping this is true, and would like it (Assuming they do mean being able to leave voice-recorded messages instead of just text messages).

    I'm not believing a THING until it happens. Just like Red said (ha, I'm a poet, and don't I know it!), it keeps me from being disappointed along with the rest. It's like with the release of HOME. I was always saying it'll come December 31st at 11:59pm, and if it comes before then, I'll be happy. But if not, oh well I'm not disappointed from believing rumoured release dates.

          Aren't there some games where you still have to pay a subscripton fee to use online even on PS3? i THINK Fifa did, Not sure.

          Nah, what Fifa did was live updates on players to reflect their form irl. You got the first league free, and then had to pay for each additional league. You didn't have to pay extra to play a match online.

          As far as I know, it's the same deal on the 360.

          Who are you to say this though?

          Halo Wars could be one of the best games of this year as it is a Strategy game designed solely for the Xbox360, Don't start giving opinions on things that aren't even out yet.

          Oh come on FFF. There are better RTS out there that get ignored all the time. RTS is a very niche genre to begin with. You know as well as I do that the majority of sales will be because of the Halo brand.

        I don't get how people can say these things, especially after 2 1/2 years. Isn't that whole attitude old now? 2 games better than a whole library? Yea, yea I know you said imo, but that doesn't absolve you from criticism. If you are really being honest, you have to be one picky person or you just don't care to try different games.

          I've played all the big hitters on the PS3 and I liked 2 360 games more than them.

          I suggest you go cry into your pillow, it may help you get over it.

        LOL Mass Effect was a huge pile of dissapointing shit on the 360. It had so much going for it and just failed terribly. And yes i did own it and an Xbox360.

        I'll admit Left4Dead looked pretty good but after you play for a while and complete the scenarios its just the same shit but at a different time.

        And how did this go from talking about the PS3's online service to what games you love? Stay on topic guys.

        The PS3's online service hasn't been laggy at all to me and i'll admit that LIVE was pretty damned good. It would be good to have the PS3 get some of the features that LIVE has, such as the voice messaging etc.

          Huns, I agree that you have an opinion and are free to express it, but you know . . . Ill and Arikardo have the same thing: an opinion. So . . . let them have it just like you want yours.

          @ Arikardo: I agree, the PS3's services haven't been laggy at all for me either! I like Live too, sometimes (depending on the game really), but feature-wise yeah let's hope the PS3 does get those features soon. I'm not worried though because I can't remember the name of the guy in charge of the Playstation Network, but he's done interviews in the past and has admitted to liking the way Live does some things, and seeing how they can implement those good features, yet still keep it unique to the PS3 and not just a photocopy. So, I expect to see the features on the PS3 too.

    That's true, but that's what I'm saying. People (unless they're fans of games themselves instead of bandwagon jumpers) will buy and vouch for the new games JUST because of it being a Halo title.

      I'm obviously going to find one game better than all the games on the other consoles. In this case, Mass Effect. It really isn't that unlikely (a 1 in 3 chance) that I may find a game from the same console better than any game from the other 2.

        If Mass Effect is your favorite game, then yea that would make sense, but why would you say a 1:3 chance that you would find a second game on the same console better than another console's whole library? Just because your first favorite is on the same console?

          My second favourite game this generation is going to be on 360, PS3 or Wii. There's a 1 in 3 chance it could be on 360, a 1 in 3 chance it could be on PS3 and a 1 in 3 chance it could be on Wii.
