With the recent announcement of Dead Rising 2, many people noticed that photojournalist Frank wouldn't be making an appearance as the protagonist this time around. Because of this, it's highly likely the sequel may not include the photgraphy element that appeared in the first game.
What do you think? Is this a good thing? Bad thing?

[Dead Rising 2 forum]

The first thing most of us noticed when Capcom confirmed Dead Rising 2 was the lack of the original title's lead Frank West. The second? Where's the camera?

There's an argument for not including the camera, so prevalent, so beloved in the first Dead Rising, in this sequel.

In the original Dead Rising you play as photojournalist Frank West, dropped into zombie-infested Willamette, Colorado to get photographic evidence of a conspiracy in the small town. The camera isn't just an interesting gameplay mechanic, it's an integral part of the storyline and something that helps identify West.

I think it is a good thing as a new character offers a new change of pace and a new way to tell the story. I am sure they will give the gamer the chance to take photos i don't see how the locale the game will be in won't have one lying around.

I never thought it was that important of an element, but I'm sure they'll include it in the sequel all the same.

I didn't really care for it too much.

If they don't include it, cool, if they do, I just hope they don't make it vital.

/agree - I felt it was such a tossaway meta game, that had fun moments, but I got tired of the whole battery element - and ended up giving up on pictures in later play throughs.

All I can say is: Giant Human Hamster Balls to Crush Zombies = DR2 FTW!

The Photography element which was within DR1 didn't appeal to me whatsoever, so this doesnt bother me.

Oh and btw, that article image is pure awesomeness.

Seems like a smart move to not reuse an original idea.
