2K Games posted a job listing online looking for a UI Programmer specifically for the game. And it seems that they want someone who has experience with current-gen platforms including the Wii.

The rumor mill pulled up a doosey today. BioShock 2 may be hitting a console its predecessor left out - the Wii. 2K Games recently posted a job listing online looking for a UI Programmer specifically for the game. That doesn’t seem out the ordinary until you read their desired skills.

    Cough, cough.

    Dead Space + BioShock 2 x Wii = Corruption + Joy.

This article makes me sad, because even though the Wii could get another great game, PS3 and Xbox owners are going to whine about it.

I think only the Wii Owners will be the ones moaning when their Bioshock doesn't compare to the Big daddy versions, as it were.
    • 2
      FinalFantasyFanaticc Feb 13, 09
I ain't going to whine, I'm going to feckin laugh. Why? Because this version will be absolutely TERRIBLE, i can just play my superior 360 version and laugh whilst Wii owners play their shitty version.

I just hope they develop it for the 360 / PS3 first, then severely downgrade that version for the Wii version.

As usual, of course. And you're a dick, 'cause honestly, you wouldn't be saying the same if you made the mistake of shelling out 250 dollars on a white doorstop T_T

Big A2, I am sorry, but *bleep*. I usually agree with you, I do, but your arguments are completely ridiculous when it comes to this. Don't even fall back on calling me a fanboy because I OWN a wii and I think its a good console.

And looking at the Dead Rising port as an example, it'll be god awful and full of crappy arm flailing.

If I look at *bleep*ing Barbie Horse Adventures, do I need to play it order to know I am not going to like it? Probably not. Thats why we have gameplay videos, and demos and previews and w/e to show us if would have an interest in the game. If I had NOTHING to go on with this game, than fine, but I believe with the evidence at hand, that I will NOT enjoy a purchase of said game. Bioshock and Dead Space for the Wii might turn out to be good, and even Dead Rising. The diffrence is with Dead Rising they took away its "selling point" or its "gimick" that people enjoyed. If that remains intact in the Dead Space or Bioshock Wii titles, than they may turn out to be decent games, just beaten with the ugly stick a little. Which is fine I don't mind playing game with bad graphics, I just have a problem with taking away from original main feature that the game was known for.

          Have I made myself clear?

Why is the CONSOLE great, Surely its the games that make the console, And as noted, most of the ports ARE inferior. You can't have a great console without great games imo. I hardly think you;d buy the console alone and say, I DONT CARE IF I BUY NO GAMES, ITS STILL GREAT

wow, i love all the fannyboys.
I'd be excited to see bioshock 2 on wii. i'll have a great game on a great console. but i'll also be able to enjoy it on my PS3 and my 360. nothing to complain about. i'm overjoyed, with this, more fanboys (as seen above) will stop saying wii has no good games.
seriously, what is your problem fanboys? you can't go a day without bashing the Wii? how sad. why can't you be happy that said "inferior console" is getting a great game. seriously, grow up.

Out of curiousity why must the usual 360/PS3 fanboys throw hissy fits about this? Yeah it's obviously going to get 'toned down' as it were but how exactly does that even affect anybody without a Wii? Let the Wii owners enjoy it if they want to and stop attempting to be funny through rather petty remarks =/
    ===
As for this in itself I'm happy about it, adds to the good games the Wii is finally getting after the poor Wii community got deprived of it for years.
    • 2
      Oogity_Boogity_Boo Feb 14, 09
Same reason why PS3 fanboys throw hissy fits about Final Fantasy being on 360. Because they, for whatever ridiculous reason, have a sense of pride about whatever console they own. "Oh no! More people will get to enjoy a game!"

Seriously, it doesn't matter. Sure, this version, if made, would be watered down. But who gives a damn? Just get the game for whatever console you want and enjoy it. I have a Wii and a 360, and I know I'm definitely getting it for 360. But it doesn't mean I have to bash the Wii version. This way, more people can enjoy Bioshock, unless it's complete shit, which I'm guessing it won't be.

This is great news. And as usual, 360/PS3 owners have to chirp in with their two cents.

I know you're all wondering why they bother, and why, as true fans of the games, they can't just be happy that more people are getting the opportunity to experience it, or that companies are expanding their reach, etc. No you see, guys like FinalFantasyFanatic (cool name, by the way, must be cool being obsessed with a game about cross-dressing men and stupid fairy music, how's that working out for you?) are what we in the real world call "Complete and utter idiots." Once he hits puberty (which sadly, he already probably has) he'll realize that the amount of good that comes from stuff like this far outweighs "DUR INFERIOR GRAPHICS AND NOT AS MANY FEATURES DUR'P!"

Guys I'm sorry that the Wii is the console of choice this generation and that all your precious games are getting moved over to it. But get over it already God damn. You all sound like losers the way you have nothing better to do with your time than constantly put down a video game console. And now please prove my point by arguing with me (as FFFanatic will no doubt do, as this post has given him something to do today). Congrats.

And obviously this comment doesn't apply to all of you so let's not all get offended now. Some people say their piece and move on, which is great. Others just have to constantly barrage the system with bullshit repetitive arguments that are just tired now. I think the PS3 sucks but I fully understand a lot of people liking the machine, so I don't go around just putting it down in every article I can find.

seriously, if you can't go a minute without getting mad that another great console is getting a great game, you need a life.
Just because the PS3 Lacks good exclusives(LBP and MGS4 were on Par...i thought differently before but MGS4 is a tad boring now)
and the 360 has an excessive amount of shooters (not saying its a bad thing..but thats all i see at gamestores now, gamestop told me "We don't stock Fable 2 or much other non-shooter/extreme action game for the 360")
we could go on forever pointing out the obvious flaws of each system but what good would that do?

really, dont be so lame, kids. game companies branching out and covering all consoles is a good thing - especially when that branch is the money-making wii. more sales = better chance for more games from that company that made the game you're so pointlessly trying to hoard.

plus with the wii you can actually act out the process of injecting yourself with eve hypos.

I'm still doubting Killzone 2's awesomeness. i saw alot of reviews saying "The story is extremley boring and the characters are very ininteresting"
..and thats all i care about is the Story and characters.
Yes, Gamestop only gets 2 copies of fable 2 a month according to what they told me.

Do you really care that much about characters and story in a FPS? I understand it would add much of what's missing in the FPS genre, which is what Bioshock did, but then Bioshock doesn't have multiplayer. The "awesomeness" of Killzone 2 is clearly not in the story telling.

Well they certainly have noteworthy characters. Besides not everything's story is simple as Mario. Metroid and Starfox have pretty good storylines. Zelda's story isn't exactly extremely creative but the greater Hyrule is more important and even in our world history repeats itself.
  • 0
    Blaze Feb 15, 09
Well, I hope the xboxless players who play it on the wii have a clue about the storyline and who's who, because I don't think people like me will have a clue and the game will act as if I have a wii and a 360, which I don't.

If they pull it off, I'll buy it. Then swap it for Metroid Prime 3 which I still haven't got.

yes, thats why i loved Call of Duty 4 and 5, because their characters and storyline were just amazing. CoD4's online is great...CoD5's online...i hate it.
Metal Gear Solid 4. the Story mode was probobly the best i've ever seen and heard. the online was shoddy at best.
Seeker, gtfo. you obviously are only basing your opinion on a few smaller wii games.
Nintendo has all the great characters i grew up with and know. I absolutley loved Zelda:TP, Metroid Prime 3 was great too...though it was my first time playing a Prime game (got the other two but never had the chance to play them). Smash Bros Brawl had a pretty good storyline too. Super Paper Mario..while still not as great as Super Mario RPG or Paper Mario, it was still great with memorable characters and nice plot twists.
The Conduit and MADWORLD are getting very high appraisings for their storyline and characters as well.

It's so much fun to watch you talk out of your ass.

All right, for starters; if you love the Nintendo franchises, then good for you, even though it's obvious that Nintendo just milks them in anyway they can, not caring for a storyline in any way. It's also awesome to watch you bash Killzone, which is shaping up to be an amazing game. But all bow down before the amazing two decent-looking Wii games that haven't even had a single review as of yet.

Anyway...I really don't care if Bioshock comes out for the Wii or not; I'll still be able to play the real game on my 360/PS3.

What the hell is with all this fanboyism. Could people stop putting down the Wii, we don't care if you don't like it, we do. All you guys are doing is annoying Wii owners and trolling, I mean there is a time and place for such discussions and at such a time or place I (and many others I suspect) would be happy to discuss the three key consoles of this generation with you somewhere more relevant but please stop bogging down the slightest mention of the Wii with displays of your distaste for the console. I fear that if this attitude leaks over to the development and design side of the industry the Wii's game quality will fall and all we will be left with is the poor tittles that developers churn out for a quick profit. It is clear that some developers are trying but we need to have room to discuss matters of Wii games without having to shift through this nonsense, otherwise it will become such a nuisance to located the good Wii games that people might stop caring, which as you all should be able to tell would mean reduced sales and therefore reduced efforts. Besides, it is getting fairly annoying to see this sort of stuff everywhere I look I have a feeling I am not the only one.

Yup. Pretty much. I am not going to pretend I'm knowledgable on the subject matter at all. I guess I did not take the other things into account. Not gonna sit here and pretend I know all that stuff when I do not. Despite all my comments I make, I am just a gamer in my free time, and do not really know about the technology at all.

I am sure they can have the AI to a suitable standard and the sound would just be a substitute of the higher quality, but I really hope the Wii version (if it happens) does well.

Oh and why bitch about it being on the Wii anyway? If you have a 360/PS3, then get the "superior" version then. Let Nintendo Wii only owners have their slice of what could be a fantastic title, much like the first..

You just cannot win here. Exclusitivity spurs bitching and moaning, Bankruptcy of a AAA developing studio spurs pity, yet when a profitable and potentially amazing opportunity for Bioshock (or any other title) on the Wii, its "lulz gunna suck".
  • 2
    Fatal Error Feb 15, 09
People seem to grossly misunderstand the real reason that people complain about titles being ported to the Wii, or being created for the Wii initially in the first place. The issue what the Wii has had is the incredible "dumbing down" of the games that is nothing short of commonplace on multiplatform games on the Wii. If developers start making games initially for Wii, the common idea is that they will make it worse to start and (as a result) negatively effect the quality of the games on the PS3 and 360.

People bitching about others pointing out how horrible some multiplatform games (CoD: WoW and Dead Rising) appear on the Wii are just as bad as any PS3 or 360 fanboy they appear to enjoy ripping. Honestly, there's a limit to how badly you can try and defend a title that is clearly inferior to its 360/PS3 counterpart before you just start looking stupid and your credibility gets thrown right out the window.

People care more about their games being the best they can be than letting everyone else get to enjoy them, and that's a fact. I don't care if someone can't enjoy a game I have because they're on a different console, but the last thing I want is for a developer to make the next game in the series on the other console if it means it could negatively effect the outcome of the game on the console I own.

Oh I completely agree. But one would have to wonder about the mentality Wii owners have. With the majority of them being casual gamers, then the issue of having a severely dumbed down version may not apply to the same extent. In saying that, I just do not know. Again, I do not pretend to know anything regarding these sorts of situations. For my simplistic mind, more people having access to the game = better. Especially with a title as stellar as Bioshock.

Furthermore, Much like you said, if the Wii version newgatively effects the outcome of the 360/PS3 version, then Ill be pissed....really pissed.

Anyway what I have to say is Nintendo is finally getting their rep
Back this year, so in your own defense, don't doubt these new Wii titles.
Nintendo also is coming out with the DSi in April, along with a shitliad of features. You 360 owners seriously need to tensen down because one of the only greater games coming out multiplatform. And that's good. Seriously, Seeker, Big A2 and all of you critics need to keep tour opinions to yourself because that heats up threads, makes that lollable but still, if there's something that's not actual factual, clarify them and reduce the amount of fanboyism here. That's mother reason I left GG for a little while, because I can't defend the Wii without a 360boi coming to be and frontin and dissin'. Chill the *bleep* out.'

Why keep our opinions to ourselves? These comment boxes are not here for html-related shits and giggles. They are for us to provide our opinions and views. And "defend the wii without some 360boi"???

A console does not need defending. You like to think your out to "reduce fanboyism", but from an overall analysis of your posts here on Gamegrep, you seem very "PRO-NINTENDO-NOTHINGELSE". Forgive me if I am wrong in that assumption. Thats how I see it anyway.

Not calling you a hypocrite (although, you sound like one), but all this "defending" talk is utter bullshit. How about reducing that instead?

You know, ironically, the snowball effect here wasn't started with a "The Wii sucks" comment. Though let's ignore the fact that the rest of your other posts has you...actually expressing your ill-informed opinions about other consoles...not calling you a hypocrite or anything; just happens to come across that way.

And nice to see your grammar hasn't improved one damn bit since I can't understand what most of your comment says anyways. Not to mention this whole thing was completely unnecessary because this article was dead days ago, as you can see.

Um.. I'm not entirely talking about this post, in general.

I just think people should give the Wii a little bit more respect, it's the maker of the games' fault, not the Console, because the console is awesome.

Also, this is kinda random, but if you frequently play Halo 3 on XBL, send me
A friend request, I'm GoldAphrodite. I just got XBL a few months ago, and Im pretty good at Halo, so..yeah. Halo 3 be beings awsom.

Dude, stop. Please. If you like the Wii, good for you, but saying something like that is just preposterous.

    Soon to be announced:

Bioshock 2 - On Rail Shooter!

Wooo! Just like Dead Space >_>

Just proves the Wii is incapable of playing the games properly and must reduce them to house of the dead gameplay.

Maybe because he has a wii and is annoyed that the vast majority of Multi-platform ports on a console he spent money on are horrendous?

No, you'd have sold it and moved on. If that was case for him he'd have said that he had one and it was shit when he was first asked up there instead of ignoring the question completely, especially since he's argumentative. Besides, if he did own a Wii he wouldn't have lumped himself in as a whiny 360 owner.
