Some very interesting rumors have popped up about Assassins's Creed. Destructoid received and e-mail from Mr. J. Q. about how he saw a small screening of the game, and the location was in 15th/16th century Venice. If this is true, Venice is a perfect location for an Assassin.

I keep hearing about Assassin's Creed 2. You know it's coming -- there's no way that Ubisoft wouldn't be working on it. But there's still a lot of questions we have. And some answers have slowly been coming our way these past couple of weeks. Well, we'll call them rumors for now.

Last week, I met a fellow journo who...well, let's just say that he doesn't work in the US. His outlet is foreign. He gave me a delightful story of what Assassin's Creed 2 would be while we bar hopped. He told tales of lovely ancient Venice as a setting. He told me that Jade Raymond has a lot less to do with this title. He said lots of really nice things about what he saw behind closed doors.

And then today we get a mail that echoes a lot of what I heard earlier. Mr. J. Q. gives us a lowdown of what he just saw with his own eyes: Assassin's Creed 2. It's too early to know for sure, but we're feeling pretty good about the info, and these little hints and glimpses of what the game will be like. A tip of the hat to you, Mr. Q.

You can read the full mail after the jump.

That would actually be a pretty cool place for the next AC game to take place. I just hope they make it possible to swim if they choose that city...

Have you ever tried swimming with, what can best be described as a *bleep*tonne, of knives and swords on your back?

I'm no expert, nor am I Michael Phelps. But I'm pretty positive even I could still swim with what he was carrying.

You probably could, but it would be hard.

But he's a trained assassin. Its like the army today can swim with all the equipment they have.

Well, Altair did a good enough job free-running whilst carrying the same.

It's just a videogame you know. Doesn't have to make sense. - To Slumpy Monkey and Hunskelper

I said it would make sense in the real world anyway.

What if it isn't true? Does that make Venice not a good place for an assassin?

I could actually see that becoming a gameplay feature like in Ninja Gaiden with Altair being able to water run if he is going fast enough.

Modern day Assassin's Creed would still be better than anything.

Well, Venice is a much better setting than somewhere in France, imo. I just hope they keep it medieval and all, or it'll turn into a Hitman with cloaks.

As far as medieval, you'll be seeing the end of that era most likely with the game. Since the first one was about the crusades and bringing them to a close, I wouldn't be too surprised if this one tries to bring an end to the less-than-sanitary era.

Looking good =) I hope they can make this title abit more interesting that the original as i got bored with doing the same thing over and over, we need abit morevariety like different ways to assassinate targets etc instead of the wrist dagger to the throat.

So much for the Japan setting. Honestly, Ancient Japan would be a great setting. I mean ninjas are like the ultimate assassins >_>

    Well, maybe the 3rd one....

I haven't even finished the first one TBH XD

Japan? That would make it modern, I can see it happening however, but Altair has a white cape and doesn't fit in with the black chain mail etc.

Shadow of Death* Feb 28, 09
Maybe modern, but I'm not sure if the 3rd game will actually be set in the present/future myself.

Even if it is, it isn't like Ninjas go 'out of fashion' >_>

But I would have preferred ancient Japan, and traditional(ish) ninjas, as opposed to Modern ones...
