Rumors have been flying like crazy, and some more have been surfaced. VG247 has learned that Firmware 2.7 has already been released for devalopers and soon will be released for fans. This would make sense as to how Insomniac is capable of having multiple PSN login's when they said this feature wasn't capable before.

Just got this from a prominent PS3 developer at GDC: “PS3 Firmware 2.70 definitely this week. Developers got it yesterday.”

The update was rumoured to have gone live this afternoon, but was apparently withdrawn.

This source is concrete, kids. Watch for an announcement in the next few days.

Will do then. I imagine most of these features are dev-oriented, because MS owns the patents to just about every other feature there is.

Yep, I said it before. With the Resistance 2 patch coming this Thursday, we will now have the ability to sign in 2 PSN accounts on one local system, a feature that Ted Price himself said (months back) that Insomniac was waiting for from Sony with a future firmware update. Since that patch we be here this week, it only makes sense that the firmware will be here imminently.

I'm with red on this one too. Until the Blog says it, I'll take it all with a grain of salt.

Then again, I've had an inkling that multiple PSN accounts online at once is one of those things like in-game music: Something available all along, but up to the devs to do it. I hope that this isn't the case though, because I grow tired of this whole "Up to the devs" type features. The only devs that are good enough to actually care to go the extra mile and institute these optional features, are ones like Insomniac, Incognito (sometimes), and a VERY select few small-game companies.

Oh, and MM hopefully. They're fan-oriented, so they may.

Whups, looks like that inkling I had all along is very much true afterall. The dual login is a feature already supported, but up to the devs to implement it.
