In the latest issue of Famitsu Magazine, it was rumored that a new Mother game (better known as Earthbound in the West) could possibly be in the works.
Go to the source for more info.

Apparently, a new type of game and entertainment service (playable on PC and mobile phone) called “Roid” is planned to be released in Japan. The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu talks briefly about it, and the screenshot it includes is certainly eye-popping.

The article doesn’t say anything about the screenshot in particular, except asking, “Could this be THAT RPG?!” and that really big-title names are scheduled to be released on it. It’s not clear if this screenshot is just concept art or what, though.

It has many similarities to MOTHER, but it isn't confirmed to be MOTHER itself. Oh Poo Mr. Itoi! >=(

The system is called, "ROID", First time I saw it i saw "LOID", Maybe this is MOTHER After all.
and the grapichs resemble Mother 3 Style, Definately Mother, Take that Itoi (For saying that your not making Mother anymore) and Reggie! (For being a total D-Bag)

I still don't get why everyone hates Reggie. He actually likes MOTHER.

Also, the reason Itoi won't make a MOTHER 4 is because he had a story to tell, and now the story is over. I don't want the MOTHER series to drag on until each game in the series doesn't seem as important to the others anymore, like Zelda or Mario.

This was proven not to be EarthBound about a week ago.

Try to check before spreading rumors next time.

      Oh phooey!

But it does resemble the MOTHER series by it's graphical features.
Maybe the other features of the game will appear in this one? If so, then I guess it's still worth a look for the MOTHER fans.
