I was just browsing the PlayStation 3 General Forum on Sony's own boards and came across a dome-shaped kind of PS3. It looks odd, and if this is real, my gawd, Sony has gone insane. It may be blu-ray drive-less too...

I call shenanigans on this one. D:

Hey, came across this...looks to be a Blu-rayless PS3 rendering. With E3 coming, figured I may as well post...don't know about the authenticity. Discuss.

<renders>

I'm also guessing that's a hard drive bay on the side, similar to the current PS3 for upgrades.

    I'm thinking a PS3 without a Blu-Ray drive would have a hard time playing any PS3 games.

      Lol, a friend said it was a PS4.
      Honestly, it looks very cool, but I call fake.

    Wonder if this is more of a Video recorder......maybe can only access the video store and download digital media for viewing. Just a wild guess of course.

    well if it's not fake, it's probably just a concept. I doubt it would ever make it into production...how the hell would that even fit in anyones entertainment centers? Looks cool though, like an irobot vaccuum.

    How can it be blu ray drive less? How would it read games?

    Actually, that slot could be a blu-ray drive in the last picture, but it looks like a cartridge loader.

    Well it's definitely not a model they'll be releasing. I think I've even seen this a while back when people were coming out with all sorts of different concepts and ideas for future playstation models.

    To be honest I almost always enjoy the different concept models and all that, and as much as this one looks pretty neat/futuristic/bubbly and all . . . it would do well because of how far from stackable it is. The current PS3 had some criticism as it was, due to the curved top which forces it to the top of the appliances if you stack them.
