Considering the game is free they make their money by making you purchase "certain things" in the game, I don't know if I'm allowed to say more but meh. So yeah by porting to XBL and PSN it would only increase their chances of making some profit.
Plus from my experience this game would work brilliantly as a download on XBL and PSN.
Sure, it's free and all, but meh. If I don't like it, I don't like it.
Still, it'd be a good idea, so long as it was still free, and maybe people could use PS$ and MS points to buy items.
Oops
Battlefield: Bad Company was console only and a massive hit, so Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is getting a multi-platform release.
The same is happening with 1943 but vice-versa, 1942 being successful on the PC and now being turned into multi-platform
Both will use the frostbite engine (used in BF:BC) and will have the standard retail price as normal.
Battlefield: Heroes on the other hand is a new territory for EA/DICE and gamers really. Although the idea has been done already (Combat Arms etc.) it hasn't really been done by such a huge, successful and well known company (or at least not to my knowledge and disregarding Quake Live which surfaced several months after BFH)
It will always stay on the PC since it is just easier to maintain everything, hell they won't even allow the game to be downloaded from Steam since it is just easier for everyone to goto the site and download it once it is released
