The Internet has gone crazy with all these rumors circulating about Kojima's next project. From rumors of the next MGS game, to MGS4 coming to the 360 and even a brand new IP. In all this madness a countdown clock was released and fans just don't want to wait. After many hours of digging, people have discovered there are a few phases to the countdown clock. And the final one ends on June 2nd. Why does that date even matter? Well that is when Microsoft gives there E3 press conference.

In the wake of the site being updated with a naught but a single countdown clock, the flashing of the number "5" (or the letters "S"!) and some thunder & lightning (OMG RAIDEN MEANS THUNDER & LIGHTNING IN JAPANESE), the page's source code has been read, compiled, digested, analysed then read again by some the world's keenest Metal Gear fans, hungry for clues on what it all means.

And they've found the following:

- Analysing the page's source code via Flash, it seems that the current countdown on the site is but one of five clocks that will run on the site over the next few weeks. Absolutely absurd, yes, and PR companies, know it's an abhorrent practice, but what's interesting about this is that the fifth one runs out on June 1. Or, the day of Microsoft's E3 press conference (Sony's is a day later, on June 2).

Thats if these countdown timers are active. If anything Kojima knowing they would hack the source code as they always do added in all these extras, to add more hype to something that may be all over this Thursday.

Raiden spin-off game on 360 tbh.

The 5 is in the same font/style as the Metal Gear Solid series has in their titles/in-game font.

But this is Kojima. No teaser or setup is ever as simplistic as it looks and the answer to his "riddles" will either be stupidly simplistic or creative and original beyond anyones expectations and guesses. Interesting to see what this is, and if Microsoft has anything to do with it.

While this does make it seem that some sort of MG (or some other Hideo game) will be coming to 360, it could also be Hideo messing with people. How better a way to mess with people's minds than have a counter for a HK game that ends on Msofts Press Conference?

If it's an S/5, and the countdown ends at MS's E3 conference, and judging by the nature of the image, it definitely has nothing to do with MGS4. Unless Kojima is being insanely crafty.

Just because it ends June 1st doesn't mean anything will be in Microsoft's press conference. E3 officially starts on that day, Kojima Games could be on a booth, there is still the internet to unveil the game. It would seriously suprise me if the big ace in Microsoft's sleeve is stealing another PS3 exclusive. Come on can't they think of any good original IP's to announce Sony has no problem doing it.

Actually it only has 70 hours left, so it ends thursday. How'd they add up the countdown to ending on July 2nd?

People who have dug into the source code of the page supposedly noticed something like an array in the flash that starts a new hint cycle after the current one ends, which repeats up until E3.

Maybe it's a game to one up the entire Microsoft presentation.

Wouldn't still end on June 1st, if your going by LA time, thus still being on MS conference.

You just proved it yourself. It's the conference that is the focal point, not the date June 1st.

If that game was a PS3 exclusive , it would be one among the others , But revealing a PS3 exclusive during MS press conference(one day before Sony P.C.) would catch all the attention of ps3 owners and create "more" hype...

Why would they announce a Sony exclusive at an MS conference, MS has the say on what is revealed at their conference.

Sorry it was not clear , by "during" MS conference I meant at the same time , not at the conference itself (but on their own website).

I don't think it means an MGS4 for 360 announcement. Perhaps a multiplatform IP. I have nothing to base this on, just a hunch, that's all.

The whole "S/5" thing and the grassy stormy plain have nothing to do with MGS4. Really just wishful thinking.

I'd love Kojima's next game to be multiplat if it's a new IP. He designs good games.

Xbox owners need just Youtube MGS4 and fill in their blanks.
A new IP, something fresh and from the creative mastermind of Kojima will be much more satisfying.

Besides, Kojima has never been one to revisit games. He only adds on (ie Subsistence).
