After some thorough investigating and research (as well as an anonymous tip) PlayStation LifeStyle has come to the conclusion that PlayStation Cloud is most likely a downloadable music service. After all, Sony has been in talks with major recording companies about bringing music to the PlayStation Network, a move that would give iTunes and Amazon formidable competition.

"Rumors of Sony readying a downloadable music service have been floating around the internet for some time. Things got even juicier when CNET learned that Sony was beginning discussions with major recording companies about bringing music to the PlayStation Network."

Competing (very effectively) with iTunes and Amazon? Doubtful, but if this is what they're planning on doing, they could do well enough, what with the fact they have the PS3 and PSP, both of which could be used to DL the music.

Looks like it's more of just a straight reference to cloud based computing, at least the source article.

Yeah, most people seem to think it is something to do with Cloud Computing (hence the name).

TBH, I thought this Music theory came out of left field >_>

a move that would give iTunes and Amazon formidable competition.

Unless there were programs that iTunes or Amazon had specifically for the PS3, I really doubt a supposed PSN Music Streaming service would be much compentition.

Sounds like Spotify which is a revolution in music. I mean it has taken Europe by storm offering up free music from any artist that wants to be a part of it (millions upon millions of songs and free albums). The service is faster than iTunes and you have to physically own the files to play them in full no so on Spotify, if Sony can tap into what makes Spotify work then they could be onto a winner. Although they should just licence Spotify for the console and do less work.

Well, from what I remember, on the official Playstation Blog it was said that everything about cloud was a false rumour. I don't know if that meant the info regarding what it was, or if cloud itself was a false rumour.

Either way . . . I don't believe any of it and don't want to risk thinking anything about it, and get my hopes up!

I thought of something, though someone could probably give me a bunch of reasons why it couldn't be what I think it might be (I haven't been keeping on the up and up about Cloud TBH)

.....A new visualization, a-la the Earth one.

Either just a visualization of rendered clouds, or a (moving) cloud overlay of the Planet?
