Well, that was fast. According to Siliconera, a Japanese blog has already cracked the mystery to Atlus Japan's teaser site with the title being another Shin Megami Tensei spin-off called Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. It looks like it'll be arriving in Japan on October 8. How'd they solve the mystery? According to them, a file named logo_megami.jpg was hidden in the source code, which is the picture seen here, showing off the game's title and release date. Atlus pulled it down but not until it was too late. The mosaic image has also been unscrambled, depicting the South Pole imploding (Evangelion anyone?). Learn2tease, Atlus.

But there's still always the possibility that this could all have been set up by Atlus who intentionally put the file there knowing that people would find it. So it's probably safe to file it as a rumor for now just in case; but a lot of the teasing information seems to fit right in with a MegaTen game.

Atlus posted a new teaser site which has a scrambled picture and text like “we’re hope!” and “for the future of mankind, let’s do it!”. The game will be revealed on July 24, but I believe we can beat that.

Denpa no Sekai helped crack the mystery by sending a picture an unscrambled picture of the South Pole imploding. Thanks!!

Doing a little more digging I think we got the name of the game and it’s a Shin Megami Tensei title. The page’s source code hid a file called logo_megami.jpg. The file has been removed, but not before this Japanese blog grabbed it.

It looks like Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is coming out in Japan on October 8. This year that’s a Thursday too and games in Japan are typically released on Thursdays…

If it's an MegaTen title, will it be be closer to the roots of the series like Nocturne was? The series was built on dungeon crawling... with Mothman.

While this is intriguing, I'm still more interested in getting to know when Persona 5 will be released. P3 and P4 were nothing less than masterpieces, and I have high hopes for P5.

I hope they intend on revealing which platform it's for on the 24th though. I'd like to see it on one of the current-gen consoles, especially the Wii for some odd reason.
