Uh-oh. When Konami cut its funding for Six Days, there were reports of layoffs in Atomic Games, but Atomic stated that development would continue with a smaller team of developers, using funding from sister company Destineer. But is that true? Industry Gamers has received word from an anonymous source that of the initial team of 75, less than a dozen are left, and they'll be gone soon, too. Will Six Days in Fallujah ever see the light of day?

Atomic did not comment on the number of affected employees, simply stating that development would continue with a smaller team funded by sister company Destineer, which purchased Atomic in 2005. However, IndustryGamers has heard from an anonymous source who claims, "Out of 75 people, less than a dozen are left and about a third of that isn't even developers. The remaining team is basically a skeleton cleanup crew that will be gone soon too. They are trying to downplay the extent of these layoffs, but the reality is that Atomic is pretty much dead."

I *bleep*ing hope this game sees the light of day. To be honest if this game doesn't I think gaming will die a little inside. This game is like independant cinema something so raw and controversial it is actually good for the industry. I hope on it's last legs someone picks this game up and publishes it, as Konami may have just inadvertantly dropped the one game that may have been pivotal in making gaming a truly serious medium. Some people may think "stop being so overdramatic" but really so many of us want gaming to be taken seriously and rival the movie industry. We NEED games like this without games like this, without games like Sony's Heavy Rain this industry will be full of fun but shallow gaming experiences that hardly raise the level higher.
