Here's one helluva rumor for you guys. Apparently, Steven Spielberg is interested in a recent Halo script he saw. The script was inspired by the novel Halo: The Fall of Reach, and written by G.I. Joe co-writer Stuart Beattie.
Now their reps at CAA are negotiating for a possible joint project, which Spielberg is hoping to produce.
HALO, the wildly popular video games that follow Master Chief, a cybernetically-enhanced human super-soldier, and his artificial intelligence (AI) companion, Cortana as they aide future humanity in battling the Covenant, a theocratic alliance of alien races, may be coming to the big screen much sooner than we expected.
IESB has learned exclusively (believe me this is solid and I've confirmed it three times over with studio executives and our close ties to CAA) that one of the biggest producers in Hollywood history is currently in active negotiations to develop the feature film adaptation and no it's not Jerry Bruckheimer or Peter Jackson. It's the man behind Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Transformers, Mr. Steven Spielberg.
Spielberg is blown away by writer Stuart Beattie's take on the game in his script entitled HALO THE FALL OF REACH. This coupled with the fact that his Dreamworks umbrella is looking for a big tent pole to help launch their newly independant studio with distribution over at Walt Disney Pictures after losing Transformers to Paramount in the separation, it's the perfect combination.

If anyone ever does do a Halo movie, then the story about Reach would definitely be the best. Seeing multiple Spartans battle it out against the Covenant would be pretty badass, something you don't see in any of the games.
Either way, like him or hate him, Spielberg is one of the most talented and varied directors in the business; if they get him on board it'll be as good as you can make a Halo film.
On a similar note, I don't think there's been a finer war film than Saving Private Ryan, that movie was a masterpiece.
I hope that Spielberg does end up working on the Halo movie. Hopefully it will be one of the few good game-to-movie transitions.
I think peter jacksons would have better battle scenes, I mean lord of the rings has some of the best battle scenes in any movie.
This shall be the greatest video game movie ever...
Somebody stop him, please.
