Electronic Theatre reports on official confirmation that the PC release of the highly-anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PC has suffered a delay, and will not be available simultaneously with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases.

With the revelation of a new release schedule from Activision-Blizzard this morning, highlighting the publishers autumn/winter line-up, Electronic Theatre can today confirm that the PC version of the highly-anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has suffered a delay. Originally due for a simultaneous release with the rest of 2009’s Call of Duty onslaught, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will now officially be late to the party.

Not too long a wait, only two weeks later. Meh, my PC can only handle this game on medium settings, so getting this for the console anyway.

Consoles better than PC? Yes I think so but It's odd that It's getting delayed for the PC, since don't they make the game on the PC anyway?

Manufacturing constraints? Uhh no. They are loaded, they have no problems with manufacturing, I assure you.

Not a response to piracy? Actually it probably is.

Capcom doesn't delay games for piracy, they've said this.

Two weeks would dull the impact, that's why DRM is used, to minimize first week and especially zero day piracy.

Not so sure MW2 would sell better on consoles (not with a simultaneous release), at least not a huge amount more. Previous CoD games are still selling like crazy on PC.

I think that's a little unfair, to be honest. When has ET published false news in the past? They run a release schedule too and evyething else on the list looks to be the right date, so why would they put this as fact if it was just a rumour?

I suppose people are skeptical because most publishers would announce delays for games this big. But as Storm mentioned, it's just two weeks...

Yeah, I agree thats what would normally happen, but with it being PC versions which CoD was born on II would think tehy'd want to avoid that so they dont piss people off! Still, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I can;t speak for the US (cause it doesn;t mention it speficically) but as far as Europe is concenerd, I'd take it as confirmed, just like ET say it is.

The write-up is suspicious is all. You don't link to or directly quote any source, no other news sites have gotten this information, and it's not on Activision's investor site. Why is it only you? You also fail to mention this is (apparently) for the UK only, for this article and many other articles, which leads to 10+ US sites currently linking to you assuming the news is global.

People would be more pissed off if they went to the store on release day and the game wasn't there.

Well, I was over at kev's last night and he showed me the e-mail and the release schedule he got. It was from an "@activision.com" e-mail address and mentioned the new CoD PC release date specifically in the e-mail, and then highlighted it in red on the release schedule. I'd say it's pretty definite...

Though I'm not sure what territories it applies to though, I forgot to ask... I'm assuming worldwide now seeing that e-mail address...
