The LA Times reports that Visceral Studios, the developers of the acclaimed Dead Space may just be developing a game based on Jack the Ripper, according to "sources close to EA".

An EA spokeswoman confirmed the departure, which was first reported on GameSpot. She added that the team at Visceral, which specializes in third-person action-adventure games, will continue work on upcoming titles Dante's Inferno and Dead Space: Extraction, as well as new unannounced titles.

Although she declined to elaborate, two sources close to EA told The Times that Visceral's next game would be Jack the Ripper, based on the 19th century British serial killer. It's not clear what the game would involve, but it's a natural follow-up of sorts to Dante's Inferno, which is also based on copyright-free historical material.

It wouldn't be the first game to feature Jack the Ripper. I wonder if they will make it into an action game though :S.

I've got two words for this game if it's real, Refused Classification.

It's gonna be one of those days.

Isn't there a game coming out called 'Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper?' Sure I read about it somewhere.

Yes star, it's by the same guys who have made all the other sherlock holmes games.

There's also an actual Jack the ripper game, I think made by "adventure games" or something like that, where you hunt down Jack and try to get to the bottom of the case...good game actually, just too short
