Charles Martinet, Mario's voice actor, revealed on his Twitter that a a brand new Mario game is in the works.
This is currently a rumor because it hasn't 100% been confirmed that the Twitter is Martinet's.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is scheduled to ship next month in North America/Europe. Meanwhile, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be out some time next year. However, there may be some sort of additional Mario game in development. Charles Martinet, the voice behind Mario, apparently posted the following messages on his Twitter.
“- Mama Mia!!!! I’m going to Seattle this week to record a new Mario game! Woo Hooo!!!!! I can hardly wait!!!!1
- Big day tomorrow! Seattle for a new Mario game! Yippee!!! And just as a joke, it’s going to rain….in San Francisco tomorrow!
- Awesome new Mario Game! And it’s not NSMB Wii, and it’s not Galaxy 2, but it’s going to be crazy fun!”

Watch it be some crappy spinoff.
NSMB wii and SMG2 are already on they way,so I don't think they need to make another game just yet. They need to focus on Zelda or finally bringing Star fox to the wii.
Paper Mario 3, please.
But really, that's why it's annoying when someone from Nintendo comes out and says "Oh, were representing the hardcore crowd. We've got a team working on Mario right now!" We know, and that's cool. The point is that it's not quite enough anymore.
Same is true with Zelda. There's always one in the works, but it takes like five years per big console release.
Exactly my thoughts. The Mario and Zelda games may help us visit nostalgia land, but that's not what everyone wants, all the time.
I think they should make a game dedicated to Toad. He's such a womanizer as it is.
I doubt he'd be allowed to talk about games they haven't decided to announce yet. I imagine they'd make that fact well known if it were necessary.
