Small business can not absord the fines and looses imposed by the publishers when it comes to broken street dates, but the majors still break the law and do so with ease and immunity.

Yet another street date possibly broken here in Australia, Halo ODST, Fable II and several others have been broken here in Australia, yet still get away with it, see what Big W are doing now with this game, almost a week out from official release.

It seems that over at the Australian Xbox.com forums there has been some speculation that Activision's Modern Warfare 2 could be on the shelves as early as this end of the week according to some forumites. Has street date been broken?

It seems that Big W has spoken to a few of their customers in store notifying them that they can stroll into the store as early as today (Thursday 5 November) and pick up their copy.

There's much speculation as to this being real or not as their new catalog which starts Thursday 5th of November has the Standard Edition of Modern Warfare 2 at a nice price of $AUD82

which isn't too bad considering the high retail price for this one, as well as the sale starting 5th of November and ending on the 11th which is the official release date of MW2.

I've been getting a lot of invites to play Modern Warfare 2 on live for the past couple of days. I think a lot of people are selling before the street date everywhere.
Also, I noticed that they said Modern Warfare 2 is at a cheap price. Do games in Australia not have a set price at release?

Knowing Big W, they will have just 5 to sell per store. Then most customers that want it for that price will go to Game, EB Games, or JB HIFI and DEMAND it for that price...

    Typical of Australian consumerism.

No wonder Aussies get *bleep*ed over not just in game content because of their ratings board but in actual game releases. What publisher would want to release in a country that has no respect for release dates. This is probably your reason for some games coming out over there late, it's the only way to make sure your retarded stores don't break the release date.
