Activision sent in a patent application detailing an electronic toy with a drum kit accessory. With the recent release of Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero, the logical step would be to cash in on yet another instrument you can already play with the original Guitar Hero games.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. Along with Drum Hero, they have stuff like "Guitar Villain", "Drum Villain", "Keyboard Hero", and "Sing Hero". Now I'd bet a months worth of paychecks that Activision will cash in on all these names. They are THAT pathetic.

    Guitar Villain? Gimme a break...

Well, a drum exclusive game makes a LITTLE sense at least. Guitar hero started this, and Rock Band expanded it.

But the problem with a multi instrument game is that ALL the music has to have a decent amount of each instrument in play. With Drum Hero they could focus on one instrument. The drums make the most logical instrument to put solo (since there is already Guitar Hero, Guitar only games, and Singstar, for voice).

Still, the ordering of it is a bit out of sorts (going back to one instrument after expanding to 4). Still, like I said, it makes sense.

Saying about the instruments thing...They made Band Hero, yet you don't even need a band :L

Rock Band? Is exactly the same I hate Activision as much as the next person but to bring up Band Hero and you don't need a band and not Rock Band which is essentially the same.. It's just stupid.

yep, Activision is out of ideas. why cant they just stop acting like a hyperactive 12 year old and focus on releasing songs for their existing games, instead of making every new game that even remotely has to do with music that pops into their heads at staff meetings?

i can honestly see something like Kazoo Hero happening sometime in the future.

First it's Guitar Hero, than now it's Drum Hero. What's next, a Piano Hero?

It's just logical progression. Drums are a staple for most bands, unlike pianos.

To be fair right, they listened to all of the spammy comments on their youtube profile. Tons of people demand songs and band games and they chose the songs.

If they're gonna please everybody they have to make sacrifices.

Drum Hero might actually work though as while there will be some quite bad bands in there for the early stages, by the end you are gonna have the metal, progressive and jazz elite. Drum Hero could also perhaps go further and have more drums and more symbols to make it far more realistic and perhaps a more real representation of the instrument that people can actually learn from.

but no one wants to be the drummer! the drummer never gets the chicks, its always the lead guitarist and the band's frontman.

Maybe the drummer doesn't want the chicks, maybe the drummer is a selfless hero that just wants to hold the band together. Nah what am I saying you're right.
