What's the point in having social networks on consoles?

There are plenty of practical applications for a feature like this. For example, it'd be useful to show others photos from Facebook on your high definition television.

Oh I don't know, I mean the whole social networking and such shouldn't have any place among the online communities for each console . . . pfft, no reason at all to network with others online there eh?

I don't really care for the integration of already-existing networking sites really. I mean . . . really my online gamers aren't part of the social networks that I have online. So what am I going to do? Try to communicate with them through the integration on the console . . . meanwhile having about 98% of those who see it on the PC haven't a clue what in the world I'm talking about?

No, I'd rather the consoles have their own thing like twitter or something. Like I've said in other articles, it'd be useful if you're away from your console or away from home and will end up missing a game you scheduled with your clan or friends....you can send a message to them that they can see from your online profile, all with your simple cell phone text message. Voila! Much easier to communicate with your online gaming friends.

For some people like me, I couldn't care less about the Facebook feature coming out on the PS3. Unless I use Facebook a lot, than yeah...

So now I can access Facebook on my computer, Faebook on my iPhone and now Facebook on my PS3. I hardly use it as it is. This isn't going to change anything. Plus, I go on my PS3 to pay games why would i use it to go on Facebook?

A welcomed addition. Instead of getting up from my room and walking 15 steps to the computer room I can just sit on my lazy ass and get on it useing my ps3.
