Heavy Rain is quickly approaching, with new hands-on previews due to go live in one week, and to keep the hype going for this title, we can now see the official boxart for the title. It has the murderous vibe to it, and reveals several of the playable characters.

The European boxart for Heavy Rain was released and now we have the official US boxart for the upcoming PS3 title.

Yeah I agree, the EU boxart looks better. But meh, it is what's inside that counts.

Agreed, are those logos really necessary?

I suppose with a title such as this that will be ignored by 95% of the general population of North America, having "best game ever - E3" and stuff stickers on it helps quite a bit. Europe does tend to be a bit more accepting of niche titles like this which may be why there isn't a single hype building sticker on it. Though we all know this game is going to be the PS3's answer to ICO and The Last Guardian the PS3's answer to Shadows of the Collosus. Both of which huge titles in scope but were so obscure they sold very little, Sony seems to be good at finding developers that make those niche games.

Shadow of Colussus actually sold pretty well if I recall. Not record breaking numbers, but more than ICO.

Although they aren't all that different from one another, I prefer the EU boxart much more. Just the simple uniqueness and lack of logos. But I don't doubt that people in the US are more likely to pick up games based on those or the fact that it has "another killer" and "murderer" in the background.

i dont care how many 'best game ever' ribbons you stick on it, i would never buy a game, or any product for that matter, with that lame ass design on the front of it. this is especially true considering i have no clue what the game is about.

the point of cover art is to attract people to your game, not make them skip over it.

Judging a book by its cover so to speak? Isn't that a little short sighted?
