Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that Square Enix will be announcing a "widely requested" game next year. Cue mass fan freak-out.
So what could it be? An FFVII remake? Kingdom Hearts 3? A Dissidia console game?

Oh Square Enix, you sure know how to get the hype train going.

Here’s the direct quote from the magazine:

“I can just say, that indeed, whereas I’m still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and one which is terribly waited from everyone and often “REQUESTED” by fans and even by the press crew that I meet all over the world.”

As much as I'd like to bet money that its FFVII remake, I'm not going to. Most likely its some game that isn't as "widely requested" as everyone is gonna think after reading this article. But nevertheless, this is indeed a great way to start the hype train AGAIN.

But if it is...bring it on! I wouldn't mind tackling Ruby WEAPON in HD graphics! No sir.

And Roz, you do know you tagged FFVIII, right?

    EDIT: Ah, fixed now.

I don't know if I want it to be an FFVII remake, tbh. I want to know how FFvsXIII turns out first. If it's great, then make that team work on the FFVII remake. If not, then grab a suitcase of money and beg Sakaguchi to come back for the project.

Because, really, could the current SE capture the atmosphere and magic of the original game? Judging by Advent Children, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, I doubt it.

any chance vegas has a line on if its ff7 vs any other. if they do put everything u own on other cause there aint no chance in hell that hes hinting at ff7. they got too much shit theyre workin on to take on something that big. odds are its somethin no one cares about and its gonna be on a handheld or the wii.

    Promises of announcements now?

Can we wait until an actual announcement for hype?

    That said:

would have the most comical reaction and fan backlash ever.

Where have you been, Akira? Square Enix have announcements for announcements for announcements nowadays. They even had a countdown to an announcement a few weeks ago.

omg!rofl at FFVII DS. The fan backlash would make my whole year

I think it would be more annoying than comical.

As much as I want it to be FFVII it probably won't be. Square's probably just saying that to get hype because everyone will think it's going to be VII. Square have so many good games that people want to be remade that it couldn't really be bad unless it was unlimited saga.

another chrono trigger... er chrono cross. whichever it is. probably. (i never liked the game so idk which is which)

if they're going to update ff7 for the graphics, they may as well go ahead and overhaul that terrible dialog as well.

Chrono Trigger was already remade for the DS, so it stands to reason they could re-do Chrono Cross on the Wii (it was originally on the PS1).

Alot of fans were dissapointed with Chrono Cross since it was nothing like Chrono Trigger, I doubt Square is doing anything with that game.

Chrono Trigger DS was far from a remake.

Honestly, I think Chrono Trigger 3 would get more of a response than a FFVII remake. I know VII has been in talks for the longest time, and has been probably the most widely suggested remake of all time, but it's just been so long in the making with so many 'hints' and other games/movies associated with the title, that a lot of the hype for it has died down or has gone unnoticed.

Although, when Chrono Trigger was done for the DS, I didn't think there was very much interest in that either. Now, I'm not sure of what the sales for it were, but I still believe that a CT3, if marketed properly, could pull in some insane numbers.

It didn't sell great and Squenix said there'd be no CT3 until it did.

Goddammit Nomura, stay focused! At this rate Versus is gonna end up like the Duke Nukem Forever of the PS3...

I agree, I wonder if he is spreading himself too thin or just a superior time manager..

If what he's said is correct, he's got at least 3 projects running now, maybe 4. If he keeps this up, Versus will never get finished.
