With analysts suggesting Infinity Ward will close after the release of their second map pack, it's only logical Activision will look to a new team to fill their boots. It looks like Raven may be this team.

Raven Software, the developer of sci-fi shooters Wolfenstein and the recently completed Singularity, has been pulled off its current projects and may be the latest studio to pick up the Call of Duty slack, according to a source close to the studio. Kotaku was told that the developer has had its next game, one based on the James Bond franchise—to which Activision holds the rights—put on hold.

    Wait, what?

That's Treyarch, Infinity Ward (well, what's left of it), Sledgehammer, and now Raven? How *bleep*ing big can this franchise get to expand it over four developers?

EDIT: Ah, they replace Infinity Ward. That's still a ridiculous amount of devs for one series.

I don't think Activision really care; as long as they can release a game, quality aside, and it'll sell by brand alone, they'll continue to keep doing it.

I've always been a big supporter of both Raven (for their work with id Software) and Treyarch (Spider-Man 2, 3, Ultimate, Web of Shadows -- come on!) but I'm finding it increasingly hard to buy products that are under the wing of Activison.

That aint going to be the case once there is about 10 cod games out per a year. At this rate there will be 15 developers by next November, at which point if CoD isn't dead, I'll shit a brick. In my humble opinion, Bobby Kotick has been on a weed-smoking binge lately with all this bs.

I believe it has been uncovered that Raven are simply making the map packs for Black Ops as Treyarch don't have the time for DLC when making a game on 4 platforms.

Would they really put everything on hold for the simple pack? I mean, you're probably right -- I just read that there article -- but it could be a simple way of easing them into the franchise, maybe to support the remains of Infinity Ward.

I am sure when Activision is making sure your family and children get fed you'll do what they say. Raven are owned by Activision so if they say drop it Raven will drop it, it's unfortunate the gaming industry has gotten this way but the the big dogs have the final say Raven wouldn't have had a choice.

So basically it's going to be the "sports game" of the shooting genre.
    Then again it already is.

Wonder who the other dev is gonna be.

Nah not a "sports game" CoD just seems to the bicycle of the games industry and Activision is its pimp
