I'd really hate to see Activision buy out GTA.

and when a rushed half assed version of gta is trotted out every year you know somethings wrong. take-twos one of the few publishers/developers that take as much time as necessary to finish a project. I know we all hate the delays we get for high profile games like GTA, Red Dead, Max Payne, and L.A. Noire, but the result is always better for the effort.

Obligatory "Activision kills everything it touches" comment.

You know if this had been brought up before GTA IV I'd have been pretty annoyed and angry at the thought of such a thing.. These days I don't really care as GTA IV wasn't that great.

GTA has had its day, other great series are more appropriate for todays gamers, and Take Two know that. WHile it does have huge support, many of those supporters are now moving on more in-depth games, or looking towards more diverse genres.

If Activision get hold of it, expect a failing of the franchise within 12-24 months of aquisition. It'll be treated as another on-line only, pay-as-you-go series for MP only, hence their move to push digital distribution and 'interactive multiplayer experience'.

DOn't expect the same game IF they do nab it . . .

Meh Rstar killed off GTA when they made it slow, realistic and boring.

Saints Row 2 put a bullet in the head of GTA and said "I'm the sandbox king now bitch"

Well I wouldnt be too worried about it as much as I would EA doing the buyout. The thing about Infinity Ward, Treyarch was them and their property were already at least partially owned by Activision from the start. So those studios were doomed from the beginning to being Activision's slaves. But when it comes to Activision buying out out studios, they actually have a record of giving autonomy to them. Look at Blizzard. Activision hardly touches anything they do ever since they bought them out. So I wouldnt be as worried of an Activision buyout. But I still hope it does not happen.
