300 bucks is not surprisingly low when you can pick up a PS3 or 360 for the same price. good game Sony, have fun getting your ass handed to you by the 3DS.

$300 is about right considering the thing is more powerful than the 360 and is up there with the PS3. This isn't a basic handheld like the 3DS that is overpriced at only $50 less..

I mean the 3DS is barely more powerful than a DS, rides on its 3D gimmick which is detrimental to battery life with Nintendo stating average game time is 2-3 hours. It loads old DS games almost 40% slower somehow according to speed tests at IGN. The whole system is overpriced for something that isn't that good.

NGP on the other hand is a graphical beast containing the first quad core CPU, quad core GPU and more RAM than the PS3 and 360. It is a beast and at only $300 a mere $50 more than the crap Nintendo are trying to sell is value for money.

The 3ds is as strong or stronger than the 360.

If NGP is actually $300 then it's actually going to be a threat against the 3ds. Nintendo might finally get some real competition in the handheld market.

Hardware wise yes the 3DS is powerful but when the console is rendering everything twice for 3D the power is lost. The system has to be more than twice as powerful than the DS as it is rendering more.. When you are playing a 3D game it is using a lot of power which negates much of the improvement. A lot of the tech demo's on the 3DS like the samurai demo that showed near 360 visuals wasn't running in 3D.. A 3D game will never look like that.

I don't know, if Sony releases the NGP with good games like it should, I think it could have an edge against the 3DS which is lacking in the game department at the moment.

I'm also sure that the $250 price tag will be expensive for a lot of parents.

That's still a good bit of money for a handheld gaming device. But I have to say it's better than some other possible outcomes. I would have preferred it to be something like, oh, I don't know . . . $250!

But initial cost doesn't really interest me as much as the cost of the (is it 4G?) online networking. It'd be awesome if they worked with someone like ATT and I could get an awesome deal with my current phone data plans.

It's the recurring fees that can give us the most problems!
