I wonder if Nintendo will drop motion controls considering 4 years in and the Wii still lacks a game where motion feels natural. After Sony and Microsoft have jumped in showing the even more accurate motion doesn't work well perhaps the Wii 2 will ditch motion controls in favour of a more traditional set up.

I doubt that they'll drop motion controls as it's the main gimmick for the Wii, and the casual gamer seems to drop tons of money for it. I'm actually surprised that a Wii 2 is on the horizon and wonder if it will meet the same mainstream success the Wii had.

I know Nintendo usually does well with new hardware, but the Wii's sales still are doing ok, and I doubt many families will dish out another 250 bucks for a new console, even if there is Blu Ray and some other new 'perks'.

Nintendo set themselves up for failure for the upcoming generation I think by choosing to cash out big time on the Wii. People gobbled it up, but consumers aren't stupid enough to forget that their last console has likely been collecting dust for the past few months or whatever because the motion control becomes tiresome after a while. They will have to rely on undercutting the competition on price again but I'm not sure even that will be enough to get a real successful console this generation unless they go and try to match Sony and Microsoft on the hardware side of things. Seems to me like it's going to follow the path of the N64 and Gamecube, where the first was incredibly successful and the second floundered due to the technological superiority and third party support on the other two consoles.
