So they are saying the thing will come with possibly an ATi Radeon 4890 and a Tri-Core gaming CPU. It may have taken them 4 years to catch up, but if that is true then the Wii 2 will decimate the PS3 and Xbox 360.. Not that Sony and Microsoft are concerned their next consoles will probably be 2-4x more powerful than the Wii 2.

The PS3 has a hex-core processor that is capable of making up for an inferior gpu (to a point, at least). Naturally the Wii 2 will be stronger because of that GPU but it actually doesn't seem to be that significant based on this information (mostly because it's unlikely they'll even utilize the added power).

That said, it's always fun to just make up rumors about about potential hardware this far ahead of a real announcement.

The whole thing sounds great, however I just can't imagine Nintendo upping everything to the point of what the rumors are claiming. The new controllers sound ideally ludicrous - like some lost Dreamcast of the future. Would a company who is all about casual suddenly change so drastically? If so then maybe they are feeling rather threatened and this may be some last ditch attempt.

That's just stupid imo. They're basically making another handheld.
