We all eagerly await a new console, but how advanced will the PS4 be if it is released in 2012? Has Wii U pressure made Sony bend, forcing a premature release of their next-gen monster? Only time will tell.

According to a recent report, the Playstation 4 is not as far away as we might think. In fact, the device could be seeing the light of day as early as next year. The Digitimes is claiming that a Taiwanese-based component company is hard at work planning for the PS4, also claiming that Sony is planning to ship at least 20 million units in 2012.

I dont like what I am hearing out of this report, I am going to call BS until something else comes up that sounds similar and hints from Sony.

Unless Sony's pastime is burning money to the ground then I call obvious BS. After losing 3 billion in the quake plus the PSN fiasco, the PS3 being a total loss and now their focusing on the PSVita, no way will we see a PS4 anytime soon.

lol, the PS3 was not a loss at all, it will probably surpass the 360 before it is all said and done. Not sure where you are getting this "total loss" thing here.

^ only that for a while Sony was losing several hundred dollars per PS3, as the cost of the blu ray, cell chip and all the other crap inside cost more than they were selling it for. im sure they arent anymore though obviously since all those parts are now much cheaper.

they are supposed to be losing some money on the Vita now too. theres no way all that stuff costs them less than $250, thats just too good of a price for what it has. that is a price point totally set to compete with the 3DS on the shelf.

I remember reading that the only way to improve the master key's security on the PS3 was to upgrade the hardware. I'm thinking they might as well go to number 4.

Unless the rumors are actually for the PS3's new CECH 3000 model that will be introduced in JP
