Nintendo Dropping 3D From 3DS?

Nintendo may be implementing an astonishing new direction for the widely unpopular 3DS - they're actually considering dropping 3D altogether, if recent rumours are to be believed.

If recent rumours from a fellow gaming website are to be believed, Nintendo is planning a drastic redesign of the 3DS, and may opt for dropping the 3D component of the device altogether due to the poor reception it has received so far.

    i do not buy it. theres a better chance they drop the 3ds in the name for marketing reasons. they are creating two split markets one for the ds and one for 3ds changing name to ds with some sub name would help. i highly doubt they are killing there 3d thought.

    Haha! What a brilliant article. Nintendo would through away all the money they've put into the 3DS just to ditch it a few months later to create a DS with an analog stick?

      well they have all but given up on the DSi and DSiXL, both of which didnt go over well. the lite is still selling more than both of them. so i wouldnt put it past them.

    The DSi and DSiXL were both essentialy Nintendos take at updating/redesigning a console, not unlike the Xbox Slim PSP Go. I don't know any people who bought an Xbox Slim just to replace a still working xbox. And I don't think I even need to mention the blunder that was the Go do I?
    If anything I can imagine Nintendo essentially discontinuing the DS in order to get gamers and developers more focused on the 3DS.

      i bought a slim to replace my working 360 because it was a good idea and i took advantage of a sale that got me lots of trade credit for my 360. the slim is better in every way and has much less chance to get RROD so its a good idea to upgrade any way you look at it.

    I bought the 3DS for 3D so I will be pissed off to no end if this happens.

    All 3 companies have done stupid things but for me this would be the dumbest thing any of the game companies have done.
