In-game XMB ready to release, Home almost complete, Accomplishments coming

Wow, what a rumor.

Take this as RUMOR though. Because it's a rumor, there's quite a chance it's not gonna happen.

The rumor says though, that a new Playstation dev kit update has released which is almost completely about integrating home and an XMB. The rumor goes on to state that the in-game XMB is ready to launch, and Playstation Home is almost completely done. The source also mentions that the PS3 is also almost ready to launch an "Accomplishment" system, similar to the achievement system on Xbox Live.

Washington (dbTechno) - The highly-anticipated Home for the Sony PS3 is apparently getting very close to release, as reports are also coming out that the in-game XMB for the PS3 is complete, which will allow for in-game and cross-game chatting, as well as the ability to pull up music and messages whenever you desire.

According to the Official PlayStation Forums, the PSedge dev kit has received an update.

The poster stated that there have been many new updates including new things added specifically for Home. One of the new big updates is that games must now be able to integrate into Home, and also has to support “Accomplishments” which are Sony’s answer to Xbox Live Achievement Points on the Xbox 360.

      Accomplishments = Direct attack (And quite honestly, I don't believe it will be a good one unless they can offer something huge) on Achievements.

    If in game XMB and Home comes out very soon, i say that will ultimately give Sony a massive advantage this whole year. Besides the games, i mean Sony's numbers has skyrocketed without their big time Apps, and most of the games are multiplatform, this will could very well open them to Dominance the rest of the way.

        Yes. Because people aren't buying a particular console because one did it first. The PS3 is already showing itself to sell faster than the 360 within the same time lines so with the updates of in-game XMB and Home it will only help the PS3.

          Yeah I'm sure buyers think "darn I'd so buy the PS3 but I can't access the xmb in game, xbox 360 it is!". Haha. Sure it's nice but that won't be a selling point or anything near, and finalblade as usual make stupid comments to make it sound like now the PS3 is so much better for having some the 360 always has had. I will admit though that home will likely sell some systems, but at the end of the day it's still just a gimmick that doesn't bring anything to the table.

          But hey, maybe Home will actually turn out to be really cool if they do it correct and it's done well.

          That's not it either. Reading comprehension for the lose eh?

          The point i made was that no one feature was the singular selling point of either console and you go to further that point with your own comment. The fact is, the PS3 is already selling pretty well and with regular updates and enhancements it's only going to continue to become even more popular.

          You seem to be giving off the idea that this isn't going to change the PS3 at all. As if it won't make it any better. How will it not?

          Armed Rebel my post was actually pretty accurate, Just look at January, Tell me was the PS3 on top in every region worldwide, Yes it was? Why, who knows maybe its appealing to people, funny that the games last month was all multiplatform. People are already stating this is Sony year which seems to be the case. You know how many people want in game XMB standard with every game, and how many people want Home, Millions. I can't see how its just a gimmick and doesn't bring anything new to the table.

          Thats like saying Saints Row brought nothing to the table since its a GTA clone. Think before you speak. This is every big, and these two aren't the games imagine what dominance the PS3 could this year. And not to mention FF titles which alone sells 12 million consoles, face it the PS3 is gearing up for its best Year. The numbers could hit record breaking by 10s of millions, For Sony.

          No, jmac, my comprehension is completely on par. You said, and explicitly so, that the PS3 getting an in game XMB will help the PS3 sales. I'm telling you it won't. That's the only thing I've said when commenting on this article. I'm not debating the success of the PS3 on a whole, which finalblade seems to think I am. Way to blow this completely out of proportion.

    Home =D Not arsed about "accomplishments" so much, but I though "accomplishments" unlocked things in home, so maybe it is a little better than achievments.

    We already know there's going to be a trophy room in Home where you can display your 'accomplishments' in games, so I suppose there has to be a corresponding system.

    Armed Rebel, the entire Wii Console is a gimmick yet that did quite well for itself.
