Dead Rising Wii screens ... Where did all the zombies go?

Gothic Girl | July 21, 2008 | Screenshots | Wii XBOX 360
Kotaku have got their hands on the the first screenshots for the Dead Rising Wii port and you probably won't be surprised to discover that the game's trademark hundreds-of-zombies-on-screen-at-one-time won't be in this version...
To men huddled around the big tables at Capcom HQ, the idea of porting yet another big-selling, zombie-based title to the Wii must sound like a no-brainer! You've got to wonder, though, whether they consulted with the tech guys before pushing forward with the project. Because as far as the 360 version was concerned, the thing that stopped it from being an awful beat-em up and made it such an awesome game were the hundreds of zombies the 360 could process. From these screens, it doesn't look like the Wii can do hundreds. It can do dozens. Maybe.

I didnt think much of the 360 version of the game so I doubt this could be much better as it is the same but I do agree.. there needs to be more zombies ^-^

So this is a direct port of the 360 version, they toned down the graphics slightly, only slightly to make the Wii out to be some powerhouse but only allowed 12 zombies on screen at once, and i bet the dissapear within a second so another can respawn behind you and kill you... Looks lame.

I hate its graphics. They look like N64 with better design.

What the heck is that dog? :/

Its running on the Resident Evil 4 engine, so the graphics and number of zombies will probably be similar to the Wii version of that game.

Anyway, I think it is foolish to make a judgment on the whole game from ten screenshots, especially when four or five are from the exact same area and moment.

I KNEW they had to compromise the number of zombies. That plaza is supposed to be crawling with zombies, like this or this. Another thing I'm worried about is...why are they emphsizing over-the-shoulder aiming when they should be focusing on melee weapons and stuff like that.

That dog is the reason why zombies get in through the entrance of the mall.

I don't know why anyone would expect the DS to crunch the same number of polygons as the 360 version to begin with. The graphics look pretty good though. I can't believe I'm looking at a zombie poodle.

This is the Nintendo Wii version, not related to the Nintendo DS.

    Sad, sad little Wii.

They should have just left this game on the 360. How is there supposed to be any challenge or fun if you're not dodging zombies every step of the way? You're going to kill the 10 zombies around you, then wait 5 minutes for another zombie group to appear to attack you? Pathetic. This will zap all the life out of the game.

Agreed, if they wanted to make a port they could have at least made a good one and put it on the PS3 where they could have all the zombies again.

Knowing Capcom, the reason they ported it to the Wii was because it's easy to do, cheap as *bleep*, and because tons of people are gonna buy it anyways...nothing but profit in there.

The other zombies felt the original one was enough, they didn't want to make another one lol.
