After months of no media, the DS version of the popular Korean MMORPG, Ragnarok Online is getting some love, with more screens posted online today by way of Famitsu, and also recently having an article in Weekly Famitsu magazine. I guess it's not vaporware after all.

While the game will not be a full-fledged MMO like the PC version, Ragnarok Online DS will support local and online multiplayer through the Nintendo WiFi Connection for up to three players, and will feature touch-based controls. It will retain the general look and sprites of the original. The game will feature two new job classes, Dark Knight and Shaman, and 50 multiplayer dungeons. The game will also feature an original main character and storyline unique to the DS version.

Ragnarok Online DS is set to release in Japan on December 18, 2008. The game is produced by Gravity Co., Ltd and is published by GungHo Entertainment.

Wow, they are still going through with it? I thought it was cancelled a long time ago. Hopefully the story is good. I liked the PC game. I wonder if its pay to play!

I've been out of the RO loop for awhile, but I never suspected they'd make a legitimate handheld or console game. It'll be interesting to see how this one develops, but I have a feeling it's going to get a bad reception.

Well I can't really think of a DS games looks nearly as good as that.

I didn't mean it in a patronising sense.
