There are some new screenshots for PlatinumGames' upcoming Sega-published DS space opera RPG, Infinite Space, which is set to hit Japan in Spring 2009. Also in the works in a short animated feature by anime studio Production I.G. for Infinite Space.

Infinite Space puts you in control of a ship captain responsible for leading a fleet of battleships. Players will have the ability to upgrade those ships and prepare them for battle. A real time battle system will be used for these ship battles, utilizing a command gauge which allows for stronger attacks the more it is charged.

Infinite Space will be appearing at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2008. Check out the rest of the screenshots over at the source.
