A graphical screenshot comparison between Fallout 3 and Borderlands, with new screenshots of Borderlands being present. Both games look quite similar, according to the article.

Blend Games’ Editor Pete Haas would probably automatically tip his hat in favor of Fallout 3, as he really digs the game. And I’m sure everyone who doesn’t know about Borderlands would also tip their hat in favor of Fallout 3. But before anyone does any hat tipping, let’s take a look at both games and each set of screenshots.

wot...I think some people just like to grasp at straws. Fallout 3 is post apocalyptic and Borderlands is steam punk / madmax / not sure how to class it but definitely not post apocalyptic. The two are obviously different.

I could care less; I'm not buying either of them.

See, this is me not caring.

Then why comment on any related article?
      Isn't that called Trolling?

        I dunno why I commented...well, to keep from trolling, I'll contribute;

There's no reason for a comparison. They both have their own qualities that make them worth playing. Why not just buy them both, money permitting? We shouldn't have to compare every single game that is remotely alike (or some that are nothing alike, a la Gears 2 and R2). Why can't we just play the damn games and not worry about which is better? Even if one is better, it'd probably only be by a tiny margin, so what does it matter?

The over-abundance of comparisons in today's gaming community is ridiculous. If you enjoy the game, is there really a need to tell other people it's better than the games they prefer?

        The answer is no.

Sometimes comparisons help in distinguishing which game suits the buyer.

Not everyone is going to buy both games.

But not everyone is looking to buy two games. Financial strain of life commitments is what many face. When it comes to entertainment, I want the best title possible for my hard earned cash. On top of reviews, comparisons are fantastic for me. Whilst I disagree about the EXTENT of some of the comparisons, they are helpful in influencing my desicion.

It all boils down to opinion and status. For me, yes! Its helpful to me and I love them. Except GoW vs Resistance. ITs a little overused.

That's kind of what I meant; the extent to which some comparisons go is a little stupid. It's reasonable to say one game will give you more play-time value than another, but this one is doing screenshot comparisons for crying out loud. Do graphics matter when it's a miniscule difference?

I'm not saying comparisons aren't worth doing, but opinions of the author can vary so much that most are irrelevant.

I'm getting Fallout CE next week, but I probably won't play it much, because LBP is online, and Fallout III....Isn't >_>

I AM a bit interested in Borderlands though, I'll probably look into getting it when it's release dage gets closer....

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm VERY into Fallout III (well, the idea, I haven't played it XD), but since it is offline, it can wait.

Although they are two different games, look at it from a marketing and business point of view. Beth Soft are very well known game makers and have a huge fan base, their games are always successful (even though there are some that dislike them and slate the game but by the by).

Then you have Blend, personally I can't think of hearing their name, let alone the games they have made off the top of my head without doing research. So already Borderlands has a very steep mountain to climb to overcome the company who made Fallout 3 and that's not even including Fallout 3 into the mix.

If we include the game then it is an even steeper mountain to climb as I have played Fallout 3 and it is good, very good.

So what's my point? Well to compare one game against another is to show the calibre of the game makers and the game. To create curiousity to the point that a gamer will buy or rent the game just to see if it is better than its competitor.

Take Oblivion and Fallout 3 for instance, ok made by the same company and uses the same engine but if you truly compare them, you will see how much of an improvement to the game engine they have made and the fact that Fallout 3 isn't just an "Oblivion with guns"

Improvement to the game engine? Sure, on the PC and 360...
