Today Rockstar have released the first Max Payne 3 screenshots. The Sequal to the highly popular Max Payne seriese. The game will be released on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Details on Rockstar Games' third Max Payne, which movies our anti-hero from the dank city streets to a more tropical environment, have slowly leaked out, thanks to a cover story in the latest issue of Game Informer. Today, we have high-resolution screens of Max Payne 3 for the first time, courtesy of Rockstar.

Some food for thought: why are they calling this Max Payne? Doesn't look like Max Payne to me! As usual, Rockstar is keeping mostly quiet. Hopefully, as we learn more about their decision to pick up where Remedy Entertainment left off, we'll better understand where this fits with the other Max Payne games.

Looks terrible... What have they done to you Max? Your film noire days are long gone and now you seem to have been relegated to a really bad looking 3rd person cover shooter.

I would have to at least somewhat agree -- I would rather the old games if judging by these screens alone. This seems a little too 'Rockstarry', somehow. Of course, it's just a few screens and maybe it'll be the best game yet.

My opinion on this in a nutshell

Well, they said he'd aged and gone from bad to worse, but damn...

Either Max Payne has really let himself go, or you play as a different character for a part of the game.

OR, maybe this is online multiplayer. Who knows.

Max Payne meets Uncharted. Wtf?! Where all the dark and bleak and Noir-esque style backdrop? I'm kinda skeptical about this game now. I'll have to wait and see this one out before I shell out my money.

The great thing about fiction is that you can pretend certain story elements never hapened. So far it seems I won't aknowledge that this is a continuation if I even play the game and pretend that MP2 was the end.

This looks so bad, in my opinion.

I can only hope that they're pulling some sort of "MGS2-esque" trick on us, and once we get about 20 minutes into the game, we play as the real Max Payne, not this out-of-shape, bald, old man.

I'm honestly wishing that Rockstar would've just let the series die with Max Payne 2. I've been wanting a Max Payne 3 for years, but if this is what Max Payne 3 is going to be like, then I don't think I even want it to happen anymore. It better have a great storyline, or some awesome gameplay to make up for what they've done to Max...

...They probably won't even have James McCaffrey doing voice work, which is a shame.

Also, if it takes place 12 years after Max Payne 2, it'll probably have nothing to do with the first 2 games, so, in that regard, this isn't even a *bleep*ing sequel. It's going to be more like a spin-off...

This is stupid. They might as well have just made a new IP.

Jesus Max lay off the KFC for crying out loud.

Also, what the hell happened to the meaning of the word "Shave"

Damn i think i'll just stick to playing Max Payne 2 hell i think i might install it now and get some film noir shooting going on.

I think this is perfect! Think about it, an older grittier Max that has been through some real "isht" over the course of the first two games has hit rock bottom and doesn't give a flying fark about shaving or his gut.... ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

This version of Max is more badass than when he was simply a rogue cop with a unique fashion sense... this is an epic dark hero/vigilante look. LOVE IT, seriously! LOVE IT!

Yeah an epic dark hero on holiday shooting the locals... That is what i get from these screens. A pissed off Bruce Willis takes his anger out on some people in a tropical location for 6 hours. Rockstar have lost their *bleep*ing minds. The story better be, actually no it will have to be of Oscar worthy writing to make this location and imposter work in the format Max Payne fans know and love. I mean so far the whole manic depressive, masochistic mess of a man in a gritty dark eviroment driven story is gone. I cannot see Max's inner monologue being believable in this game. Seeing Max go on about his life being shit and terrible in the midst of sun, sand and sea, an idyllic paradise.

I think this looks awesome. Who cares what Max looks like? It's a "game noir" trilogy... he's supposed to age dramatically!

I never played the first two games, but have heard the gunplay is one of the biggest parts of the game. In this months GI they said that R* is going to follow the same recipe of gunplay in this one. I think it looks cool.
