Some of you have seen this box art, which has been floating around the internet for a while. But at the time it was an unofficial place holder. Now websites such as Amazon and Gamestop are using this boxart, which i slightly updated from the previous one.

The image depicted in the final box art will be familiar to some, though it had not been officially announced as the final cover. Sites including Amazon and Gamestop have recently updated the product information with this newest edition, with little difference from its previous place-holder.

Why care about the box art? If the game is good, the box art won't matter. Plus, just flip the cover. I did that on all my GOW games....the inside cover is better on the outside.

Some of us like to appreciate box art, especially artists such as myself.

When I get an awesome game I expect the game case artwork to be awesome too. Basically the only reason why I put my MGS4 case back inside the Collectors Edition box after I insert the disc. That artwork is much better.

The boxart is to attract the attention of those who don't know the game.

For instance someone who has never heard of god of war or has never really gotten into it, or doesn't have much info, see's the front cover of the boxart, it grabs their attention and thus a purchase is made if they liked what they saw.

And I saw this almost a week ago but with the *not official boxart* tag on it. Either way it kinda sucks.

But that is one pretty eye.

It doesn't really look good. Actually, I doubt it would attract crowds not familiar with the franchise (like there is...). But still, maybe it's just the NTSC version's box-art? If so I hope the PAL version will have a better one (since it's the one relevant for me ).
