Snake Plays Hide & Seek Online

Krunal | July 24, 2007 | Screenshots | Playstation 3 Company
We all thought Metal Gear Solid 4 would be the last Metal Gear game. This is both correct, and incorrect. Kojima today officially announced the creation of Metal Gear Online. Whilst still part of the Metal Gear franchise, it will have no story, and so in essence the story will end with MGS4. It was also announced that it would be using the MGS4 engine, and with the announcement comes the fact that there will be no online mode in MGS4, just the offline game ;).

With the announcement of the game, he also released 6 new screenshots for you to awe at, so why not take a look, just click on the images below (and the one above) to enlarge.

So we'd have to buy this seperately? I wish it'd come with MGS4. Kojima sure had me fooled saying that he was done with MGS after MGS4 Another must-buy!

Like I mentioned in the article, he was telling the truth in a way. Maybe they realised that the game was taking too much space to be on the PS3 with online, so they decided to split the two and make more of a profit.

That does make sense. I know he was telling the truth 'in a way,' but with one heading to cell phones, a comic based on MGS2 on the PSP, etc., you'd really wonder if he can give it up. It's been most of his career, after all. Hard to give that up.

I think I'm going to use the PMC's, their main gun is cool looking and they just look overall cool.

Most people will probably pick the PMCs anyway

The characters look a little too serious. I like the more goofy type in MGS3-online.

Interesting. After MGO comes out, I'm definately getting a PS3. I have to start playing as soon as possible before Konami pulls the carpet under that one!

I doubt they'll take it out that quick! Sony probably won't let them.

If every person who owns a PS3 gets this (most will, eventually) the online should last a while. I'm not touching online until I go through the game four times.

I dont think most will be complaining, as the online mode will be awesome and many will play, especially with it being one of the most talked about and liked games around

I really hope this will somehow be bundled in with Metal Gear Solid 4 or perhaps even offered at a reduced price on the PlayStation Store. Interesting news either way.
