Golden Axe, the classic game that came for arcades in 1989, now comes revamped as Golden Axe : Beast Rider for the PS3 and the 360. Sega has released 6 new screenshots. Enjoy.

The upcoming arrival of SEGA and Secret Level's revamped version of hack-and-slash classic Golden Axe marks yet another retro game from yonder yesteryear getting the modern day overhaul treatment courtesy of powerful processing and a full 3D game world.

While it’s certainly a good thing for SEGA to be breathing fresh life into Golden Axe, which first appeared in arcades in 1989, will Golden Axe: Beast Rider in any way resemble its source of inspiration, its gameplay, and its chunky pixel presentation?

Given the step up from late ‘80s arcade machines to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360... well, not likely.

Bad-ass. Golden Axe is the bomb.

Pity they only have screenshots of the chick though. She was always the lamest of the three.

        That can't possibly be true.
Wow, I didn't even know that they were doing an updated Golden Axe game, hope it delivers on 'fun' like the old game did.

Come on, man! Playing as a chick's gotta be cool. Actually, I haven't played as a chick since Dino Crisis!

This actually looks pretty sweet. But I agree, if she's the only one playable, I won't even consider renting it.
