(go to source for more info and screenshots)

With Mario Kart Wii on the horizon, Nintendo were bound to let some information slip about their latest Mario Kart game for the Nintendo Wii, and well, they have. For starters below we have 19 brand new screenshots (more on the jump below) for you to feast your eyes on and from those screenshots we’ve found a bunch of new information concerning new characters and tracks, as well as online. So read on…

- D.K’s snowboard Cross is a half pipe sort of track. You’ll be able to drive up the side of them and pull off awesome tricks in the air.
- Miis will be spectators in the background.
- Luigi’s circuit is still a simple track.
- Koopa Troopa will be a playable character.
- Coconuts Mall has players driving around a huge mall with multiple routes.
- D.K has a new go-kart.
- Names hover over players during online play.
- Motor bike will be able to be used online.

Finally, numerous retailers are now reporting that the game will launch in Europe on April 25th, which is just fifth teen days after it’s ‘confirmed’ launch in Japan.

Guess it's because of his...jungle ways. Dirt bike, odd. Ugh, how much is the Wii-Wheel going to cost separately? I need to buy another.

    Screens look great, though.

As much as I loved the original Mario Kart, this, it looks very similar to the arcade version. A little disappointing but there's still hope :0

Screens look great? Screens look terrible. Where's the polish Nintendo?

You know what, I think people are going to get tired of the Wii really fast once all the staple Nintendo titles come out and they're not even that large of an improvement to begin with.

I agree with tek. The graphics seem to have taken a big step backwards, and partly resemble the original SNES Mario Kart. It all looks so flat and outdated.

I was hoping for a similar style of Mario Kart 64 (but of course, with more detailed graphics). but it seems like Nintendo haven't gone down that route. >_>

Its a cheap way out, the Wii doesn't have the power as other games have shown so they have resorted to a more vector graphic, this allows it to look crisp and better looking than say Cruis'N which tried to use modern graphics techniques on a console that can't render them.

I don't think that Mario Kart Wii will be all that good, because I couldn't imagine driving with the Wii remote. It would be cool though if you could use the Gamecube Controller with it though.

it's looks good but a wonder if the controls will be easy to get a hang of or if it will be better than the ds version
