Play TV Interface Pictures Surface

Play TV was announced last year for Europe. It will allow you to record television on to your ps3 and view it when you want. Some brand new pictures are released showing off the interface of Play TV. Currently Play TV is only for Europe, no word if it will be released anywhere else.

Very nice. It looks slick and, most importantly, usable!

Yes, looks like a nice user friendly interface, and hardly ugly.

Would be nice if they released it in North America though. I'd buy it ASAP. I currently only have a VCR >_

The problem is that standardised digital television transmissions in America are near non-existent when compared to Europe and it's "Freeview" system.

That's one thing we've got over you guys!

Um same as the U.S actually. They are ending the analog channels at 2009. And its only going to be digital and satellite. So i don't see any reason why North America can't have it, if thats your reason.

yup if thats the reason y play tv isnt in america then we can only hope sony brings this here. this would be sweet cause it cost 200 for a directtv hd dvr. or just record 4 free on my ps3.

Uhh.... the price difference isn't going to be that much, DVD Recorders are now around £100, and PlayTV will be around £50, so either way you'll have to pay for one or the other, and if you want to record channels OTHER THAN FREEVIEW CHANNELS, then a DVD-Recorder is pretty much required. Remember that PlayTV only shows FreeView channels, so you wouldn't get Sky One/Sky Two on it.

Looks like Amazon has put it at 80, not 50....Still cheaper than a DVD recorder.

I want this thing to come out on North america >_<

Rogers (Cable Company) would be a good company to go with (In Canada that is), but they should make it compatable with multiple companies of course.

Freeview channels? Whats that, and could you give me some examples?

Even though I have Freeview on my TV, I think I'll be getting PlayTV simply coz I'll find recording to my 250GB HD much easier than the 4.7GB DVD+RW's.

    Looking good

Does anyone know if it will be possible to record from the PS3, say record a game you're playing then upload it to youtube or w.e?

Most likely not. At the very least, not until in game XMB comes out (that looks a while of, 'in game messaging' which is supposed to come out this summer isn't the same thing, unless they're hiding details)....

There would likely be copyright issues with recording in game videos anyhow....
