They might not be quite as interesting or unusual as Yakuza 3's transsexual model Ayana Tsubaki, but the ladies pictured were chosen to play the role of Yakuza 4's bar hostesses.
So how were they chosen? Here is a short 'documentary' showing how the process went...

"Lest we forget the title is still a long-way off for North America and Europe as well, and Square Enix is also famous for tweaking their games pre-western-release. At this rate however it only seems like a few elements that could be adjusted, but otherwise series fans should relax their concerns about Final Fantasy XIII and instead enjoy the run-up to its release."

Famitsu.com have released a batch of gorgeous new Final Fantasy XIII screenshots featuring the new characters, the battle system and some of the beautiful locations in the game.
While we saw many of these scenes in the Tokyo Game Show trailer, it's nice to see the detail that has gone into everything. It looks like FFXIII is shaping up to be an amazing experience!

Currently Sony doesn't have a name for their upcoming motion controller. You can just imagine a bunch of chimpanzees writing away clever names behind a typewriter. While that isn't true, what could be true is this new rumored name for the controller. 'Sphere' as it was called by a Sega Producer. No word on if this is the official name, but errors in translation do happen.

It has been a while since new Final Fantasy Versus XIII information has been revealed, but it looks like that might be a good thing. At the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix gave attendees the first-ever glimpse of Versus' gameplay, and it was apparently very disappointing, leaving the audience confused and worried about the direction the game was heading in...

"Currently pencilled in for behind-closed-doors display at September's Tokyo Game Show, the PS3 demo of WarDevil is frustratingly small. The texture streaming system is stull under development, though it's expected to boost the current texture bandwith to support 1K (1024x1024) textures for every four square metres of gameworld. Characters meanwhile, already boast seperate 2K (2048x2048) textures for their faces, torsos and limbs. Compare that to something like Fallout 3, where everything from..."

""There was variation in terms locations," said Ueda, "and also the way of storytelling in the game. Usually, you have to incorporate storytelling with constraints, but the way they [Half-Life 2 developer Valve] implemented constraints was something different that I enjoyed, compared to other games."

Much of the storytelling in Valve's games takes place through non-traditional means. You aren't pulled away from the action to watch a scene play out in letterbox or forced to look in a directi..."

With lower attendee numbers and a lack of stand-out Japanese games at this year's Tokyo Game Show, many gaming sites were left worrying over the state of the Japanese game industry. Capcom's Keiji Inafune also wasn't impressed with what the show had to offer, saying that "Japan is over. We're done. Our game industry is finished."
So is the Japanese game industry on the decline?

"The gaming industry has gotten bigger and better with each passing year, but sometimes they just don’t do things right. Whether it’s gameplay, story, pricing, or business practice, sometimes the industry needs a little friendly fire from the gamers to keep it in line.

Other times, developers look down their sight and fire off a well placed bullet right into our unexpected head. This is Josh & Cameron, and this is a special TGS edition of Headshots & Friendly Fire."

"The development of the successor to Gears of War 2 would be awesome to hear at TGS ‘09. However, Epic made a valid point how to work on the sequel on this generation of consoles would be best on the next generation console utilizing the Unreal Engine 4 still in development (how could they ever top the present generation?). Mike Capps, President of Epic Game Studios said while addressing an audience at this week’s Tokyo Game Show in a Q&A session, “If their were a next Gears of War, tha..."

The PS3 sales started off strong, surprisingly strong. But many people questioned how long its sales streak would last. Well it last all through September. Selling well over 1 million units. And the holiday rush and blockbuster games haven't even released yet.

Once a pipe dream now becomes reality. Speaking with bullet hell shoot-em-up masters Cave, Kotaku has learned that their upcoming Xbox 360 release, Mushihime-sama Futari Ver 1.5, will be region free, unlike the developer's previous two releases, Do Don Pachi Daioujou Black Label Extra and Death Smiles, which were restricted to Japan only.

Cave's Makato Asada said that the overseas market was a factor in making the game region-free, and they want to measure the amount of overseas users who...

The Tokyo Game Show is not just for the hit internet hipsters or gaming media to report on the games that publishers bring to the show; that's what the first two days of the event are for. The latter two days of the four-day Tokyo Game Show are open to the public, so the everyman, everywoman, or everykid can take in the sights and try out some of the games.

Wait, everykid?

The Tokyo Game Show has a Kids' Area designated for the tykes to play some games that are targeted for them. Howe...

From FamitsuTube, Famitsu's Youtube channel, comes a gameplay video of Square Enix's upcoming Nomura PSP Action RPG, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Famitsu's presenters go hands-on with Birth By Sleep female main character Aqua.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep releases in January in Japan.

"At a hands-on event for Dead Rising 2, producer Keiji Inafune (father of Mega Man) had some not-so-nice-words about this year's Tokyo Game Show.

"Personally when I looked around [at] all the different games at the TGS floor," Capcom's Ben Judd translated Inafune, "I said 'Man, Japan is over. We're done. Our game industry is finished.'"

However, he then uses Capcom's upcoming titles as an example of "kick ass" games coming from Japan. An interesting remark, as Dead Rising 2 is being han..."

""There are several candidates for the name of the controller," said Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida. While still undecided, those names are making their way through Sony, being run up the flagpole and getting feedback from various internal departments.

"The SIXAXIS and the DualShock 3 — while great product names — are based on the actual tech," Yoshida explained. "The name we pick for the Wand Controller maybe won't be so techy.""

"Much like 2007's Silent Hill: Origins, the PSP version of Shattered Memories is quite capable of conveying an eerie, unsettling experience, even on a platform that might seem ill-equipped for the survival-horror genre in comparison to home consoles. The Wii re-imagining of Konami's PS1 classic is faithfully represented on Sony's portable, with only a few framerate hiccups tarnishing a very impressive visual representation.

Recreating the Wii version's moody ambiance isn't the port's only m..."
