Top 5 Racing Games of All Time

A count down of the five best racing games of all time. The list focuses mainly on Nintendo games from the 80's and 90's but also includes a new choice.

Mario Kart Double Dash for the Gamecube took up most of my college life. My papers and classes would always have to be put on hold while I played this game for a least 8 hours a day. To think of where I could be today if I spent all that time studying rather than playing Double Dash. Maybe my 3.4 average would have become a 3.9, but I don’t regret it for a second because I became a master of Double Dash that no one could beat. This accolade was far more important that the benefits of having a near perfect grade point average. Oh well, there is trying to explain the game too. I think everyone under the Sun has played Mario Kart Double Dash. With that being said, we will leave it to the reader to understand why this game is so good and addicting.

Super Off Road started out as an excellent arcade game - it truly does deserve to be in the top five.

I'd have to put San Francisco Rush 2049 up there, as well as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, and Super Hang-On.

    Cant do racing sims..just not for meeeeee. Oddly I prefer fighting sims over arcade though.

I didn't play any of them except for Double Dash, and it deserves to be up there. I'd be surprised if Mario Kart Wii was there.

way to suck the 16-bit era's dick.

mairo kart double dash is the only game worthy of being on that list. mode-7 was an eyesore that deserves to be completely forgotten. the original mario kart, and f-zero did NOT stand the test of time, and are utterly unplayable. we only played that shit back in the day because it was the best we could get. it just plain blows ass now.

super offroad is fun, and charming, but its not much in the way of the best racing experience.

this is just 'lol im such an oldschool gaymer and im gonna attempt to be respectable and cool by overglorifying a bunch of shitty old snes games'.

the best racing games of all time are CTR and z-zero GX.

  I agree with most of this. I've played a fair-share of racing games and I agree that Double Dash should be there, but what he said about the old games is completely true.
