Independent: Top 5 Video Games List

1 Wii sports
2 Braid
3 Halo 3
4 Fallout 3
5 Rockband

A very interesting list indeed. Recently a newspaper in the UK named the Independent released their list of the top 50 games of all time, above is the top five.

Their number one choice was Wii Sports, is this a joke? The inclusion of Halo3 makes some sense, but are there not many better games that should've made the top 5?

    Fallout 3 isn't even out yet either @_@

    COmes out in late october I think? Even if they tried some earlier build, it still shouldn't be added I think....

    Well whatever.

    Maybe it is supposed to be 'top five games we think are/will be very successful' >_>

    Haha well i know Fallout 1 and 2 were amazing games but it is surely jumping the gun to assume the 3rd will be just as great. As for WiiSports thats just a disgrace.

    This is ridiculous. Wii Sports? Halo 3? Rockband? Is this the casual gamer's list of all time top games? We're supposed to see stuff like Zelda, Metal Gear, and Mario up there. Not this.

    Also, I noticed that the only thing on that list from previous generations is Super Mario RPG. This list a disgrace.

    I can see their angle if they're going for most technically advanced or most innovative. Clearly their opinion of "Best Game" would be from a current generation. I didn't go to the source so if there is something written there that I missed, I'm sorry, but this was an incredibly stupid list and possibly a joke if their objective really was to list the Best Games of All Time.

      But if they're going for most technically advanced games, then MGS4 should surely be higher up than #33 on the list as it's a very well-made game with great graphics, sound, gameplay mechanics, etc., at least, I'd consider it to be much more "advanced" than Halo 3, or Gears of War, or about half of the list that I looked at.

      This list is a joke. No way is Wii Sports one of the greatest games of all time.

      Although, I somewhat agree with Rockband, even though I think it should be a little lower on the list. That game, even though it's not something that interests me, looks like it's THE rhythm game to have.

    I'm not from the UK, but the Independent doesn't seem like a gaming news outlet to me.

    This just shows like a mainstream newspaper talking about mainstream games to attract an audience. WiiSports, Halo 3, and Rock Band are some of the most casual games out on the market right now, so a newspaper with no actual gaming knowledge is going to go with the most attention.

    The Independent is an old man's newspaper.

    They don't have a clue what they're talking about.
    They probably went to GAME store and asked what are some good games.

    Reading is your friend. Try it sometime. No where in that article did they say "Top 50 games of all time." It just said "Top 50 Best games." And from the looks of it, it seems to be currently popular games. And for crying out loud, THEY AREN'T EVEN NUMBERED. So chill out. No one's saying these guys should be the record books somewhere. You guys really should stop taking whatever someone writes on this site as 100% truth and read the original source. This goes to the Gamegrep article authors too. Spend more time reading than posting.

          Well these guys did, and saying Pokemon Diamond and Pearl is the best game ever is more crazy then saying Wii Sports is.

    (Sigh) No they didn't. Read underneath the pictures. There's nothing there justifying why this should be #1. Now read the next and the next. They don't justify any ranks. Why? Because there isn't any. It's just page numbers. That's just how some news sites post articles with pictures.
